Quinno _ left this review about The General Sir Redvers Buller (JD Wetherspoon)

Higgledy-piggledy mess of a tight interior with the bar at the back up some steps in a fairly awful vomit yellow and snot green room. A less than glorious front of house service (more tatts than IQ) and a general air of scruffiness all round. After Brain of Britain finally managed to understand the concept of the 50p CAMRA voucher I got a pretty meh and extremely short measure festival beer (NBSS 2). One other guest and another fest beer available alongside the usual though I only saw one other cask being pulled – apples and lager are the sellers here. Very unusually for Spoons, there’s a dart board. Out back and up some steps is a fairly traditional beer garden though a chunk of it was fenced off. Below-par JDW – needs a kick up the arse from Timbo.

This JDW is named after some obscure army general from years ago who hailed from these parts. It's set in an old three storey building that looks like it may have once been a house. The entrance from the street is up one of two steep sets of stone steps. There is disabled access but I couldn't see where it was other than a door to a wheelchair lift in the bar.
Inside it's a small (for a JDW) split level room with the bar area at the rear. This space includes a skylight which makes it lighter and I also spotted a garden area further back. It wasn't that busy at around 15:00 on an April Friday afternoon.
The bar has just eight hand pumps which had the JDW Trio Of Doom with Ruddles and Doom Bore doubled and a cider leaving a poor choice of Hanlon's Stormstay and Dartmoor Legend. I went for the Stormstay (£1.99) which was in decent nick and the cheapest pint I had on my Devon visit. I also went for the standard priced Fish Friday here.
This is quite a pleasant smaller local town Spoons that was rather let down by a limited beer choice.

Fairly large Wetherspoon's with a few guest beers but nothing to get excited about.
