Neatly done JDW (a 2003 opener but suspect it’s had a refit since then) over a number of discrete areas, an upstairs bar and an (unexplored) rooftop garden. Only one guest cask, apparently Burton Bridge Stairway according to the app (NBSS 3) though I’m not sure I got what I ordered. Necking it in order to get to the station for my train, I decided not to push the issue. In general Spoons have upped their game since COVID but I found this one to be a bit lacklustre given the single questionable guest cask – I guess they can easily get away with serving the one-drop tourists for 9 months of the year.

Falmouth's branch of Wetherspoon's has re-opened and now features a rooftop garden.

Apart from a visit to the toilets, we stuck to the ground floor bar. The central staircase gives the pub the feel of an ocean liner. There is also a separate bar on the first floor. Greene King Abbot & Ruddles Best are the regular ales. Guests were Moorhouse's Totemic, Exmoor Upside Brown & Hook Norton Merula Stout. Boxed ciders were all varieties of Healey's Flattler - Peach, Pear, Original & Strawberry & Lime.

The usual history signage found in branches of 'spoon's was apparent. We sat in a corner with details of the local mailcoach which departed regularly from the Packet Station (port for overseas mail transfer) to London, including the story of how one of the mailcoach's horses was once attacked by a lion which had escaped from a menagerie. You can learn all sorts on a pub crawl!

I actually quite liked this Wetherspoons, cosy interior with quiet corners for a pint, plus the staff were friendly and helpful. Real ale choice underwhelming though, the usuals plus a Ringwood beer and Coach House Cheshire Oak all the way from… Cheshire. Can’t really complain at £2 a pint though.

Large modern Wetherspoon's with lots of room on two floors which feels like one of their better-run outlets. There is a small patio at the back but mainly occupied by smokers. The range of ales was reasonable and included a couple of local ones, and were in good condition.

This is a two floor Spoons set on the site of an old indoor market so is probably purpose built from scratch.
It's a modern looking room with lots of wood and fairly typical furnishings. I didn't investigate the upstairs bar. I did notice that the food here was not as expensive as some of their other Cornish outlets. It had a steady trade on a November Friday afternoon.
The ten hand pumps downstairs had the JDW Trio Of Doom doubled, Brewster's Seventh Heaven, Cornish Chough Fire Raven, the inevitable Dartmoor Jail Ale and Marston's Old Empire. I went for the Cornish Chough beer (£2.29) which was in good nick. The beer choice could have been better here but it was out of season. It seems to be a good enough Spoons.

We did'nt find The Packet Station until Sunday morning and then it was my wife who spotted,so we straight in just before 10.30am.
Once inside there is a squarish shaped room with the bar on the left side, the floor is carpeted, there are tall tables and chairs near the bar and normal tables and chairs elsewhere, plus some amercan diner seating, there is a decent sized room upstairs with its own bar, this room was open all week.
There were the three Spoons regular real ales on the bar all week,Abbot,Doom Bar and Ruddles Best.
Over the week on different visits we had Bays Gold,Tintangle Cornwalls Pride,Skinners Lushingtons,Exmoor Gold and Skinners Cornish Knocker.
We both really liked this Wetherspoons.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Packet Station (JD Wetherspoon)

Modern 'spoons with a split-level interior that is lighter than most. Also has the Top Bar with its large feature window overlooking The Moor (although this happened to be closed on my visit) plus a small rear patio. Total of seven different beers from the two banks of five handpumps, with a good selection of styles (from which I selected the Acorn Darkness, £2.35).

Blackthorn _ left this review about The Packet Station (JD Wetherspoon)

A fairly modern looking Wetherspoon’s overlooking the old Moor square, it doesn’t have quite the character of some of the company’s outlets, but is nonetheless pleasant enough with plenty of natural light from the large windows and is split across two levels with a large central staircase being something of a feature.

Flooring is predominantly one of the many Wetherspoon’s carpets along with some wood strip in the central area. There is light wood panelling on much of the walls and all the way up the staircase, which gives it something of a nautical feel perhaps. Elsewhere is pale lemon paintwork. A raised section at the rear of the pub is separated off with some wooden balustrade and beyond this there looked to be a small patio area. A bookcase was off to one side and a cabinet housed a number of bottled beers and ciders with a blackboard next to them showing where they came from on a map of Cornwall. A number of the pub signs were in Cornish and there were a few Cornish flags around. The upstairs bar had another bar counter and good views over the square, including a ledge with a few bar stools looking directly out.

Beers on this occasion were Tintagel Gwaf Tan, Lizard Storm, Bays Devon Dumpling, Branscombe’s Vision, Abbott Ale, Ruddles Best and Doom Bar. Ciders meanwhile were Thatcher’s Gold, Strongbow, Strongbow Dark Fruit and Magners.

Large busy Wethrerspoon pub near the bus station with good ale selection in the 2 bars. Enjoyed a new Skinners beer, Sennen, and Keltek Golden Lance.
The above was in 2011, and we went on 24th May to the launch of the Falmouth Pub Guide and they had Black Rock, Granite Rock and Rebel beers on along with the usual Greene Kings. The beers were all in good condition and despite being busy holding the event as well as usual lunch time trade, service was prompt and staff cheerful and helpful.

A 'spoons house with the usual large range of Real Ales, lagers and good value food.
On 2 floors with a bar on each. Downstairs has a lot of comfy chairs and sofas and the childrens area.
Small outside terrace with tables.
