The Ran Wartha is a Wetherspoons pub that is set on a steep hill.
Once inside the bar faces in a roughly L shaped room which has different areas, the floor is carpeted and the seating is the normal Wetherspoons type.
We had a drink of Skinners Lushingtons which went down well on a Tuesday morning visit, the other real ales i noted were Keltec King,Doom Bar,GK Abbot and Ruddles Best.
We were happy enough having a drink in this pub.

This is an unusual building for a JDW built on a hill in the winding back streets of St Austell. It occupies the top level of this building and is a Lloyds as it has the light rig, glitter ball and DJ cage which are used to ruin a Friday or Saturday night visit. There's a handy lift at the lowest point of the building for the benefit of the disabled. It was the Conservative Club before but I won't mark it down for that.
When you finally get to the room it's L shaped but split into areas.
The bar has two sets of hand pumps with a totally disappointing selection. The JDW Trio Of Doom and Marston's One Is 90 were doubled up leaving just the JDW Everard's Defender and Deuchar's IPA. I went for the Defender which was in good nick.
This is quite good for a Lloyds but the poor beer choice completely let it down for me.

Nice enough Wetherspoons, plenty of space inside with usual pictures telling the story of the pub and town. Its nothing spectacular inside, though its not quite the one open space you get at some Wetherspoons. 5 real ales thoygh sadly nothing local, but my pale rider was good.

The menu includes some Cornish items & our food was good here.

All together ok

Tucked behind a main street this JDW impressed as there was a lift from ground level so disabled could avoid the steps to the front door. Interior better than many of their outlets as separate drinking areas were accesible. Usual real ales plus beers from Titanic, Tintagel and Bays. The Bays and Tintagel beers were great, and I would say the Bays was better than the ones I had near to where they are brewed when we stayed at Torquay a while back. Must be a good cellarman at this outlet.
