This typical JDW full of social rejects (OK, and a few normal people), unleashed children and slow, amateurish staff (apart from the lady with OCD who was quite charming) occupies a narrow shop front, formerly a textiles factory and carpet shop, and is the first pub you come to on entering the run-down high street area from the station end. There is little by way of atmosphere and the mood is one of depression. Five ales plus 1 Dutch, 1 German and 1 Czech beer on draft. I had a pint of Bateman's Springtime Oatmeal Beer which wasn't that inspiring. The wifi doesn't work properly. Include on a crawl for the beer choice, but I really wouldn't want to spend an evening here.

Another visit to Peterborough, and we called in for the curry. There was a good selection of ales on and we chose Oakham Citra and Grainstore Silly Billy. Both in good condition. Good prompt service at the bar too. No problems with either food or beer. The room appeared tidy so I would call it a good Wetherspoons.

The above was in April 2010.

Revisited on 25.8.11 while in Peterborough for the beer festival to enjoy a curry before heading home. An excellent curry washed down with a pint of Thornbridge Jaiper IPA went down very well.

Another visit 23.4.12 and was disappointed to find that this is another JDW that refused their vouchers on half pints. Presumably because it is another with around 3 different prices on the beers. More and more seem to be changing to pricing by ABV or another system which blocks the use of vouchers on half pints. The Grainstore Rutland Beast was fine, but the Box Steam Broad Gauge was not top notch.

This is quite a smart Wetherspoons pub, close to the train station and town centre. The light front area, soon gives way to a darker middle section which has lots of dark wood panelling, bare floorboards covered in places by old rugs and a comforting dark purple paint scheme, making this about as cosy as any Wetherspoons is ever going to be. Beyond this is a bright rear area lit by skylights. Paintings by local artists are on display and seemingly for sale whilst behind the bar there are bar towels from local breweries hung up in keeping with the pub's attempt to feel more like a community pub.
There was a very good selection of festival ales and ciders on, with only one non festival drink (Ruddles) in a bank of ten pumps. I had a pint of Inveralmond Old Brig, which wasn't really to my taste unfortunately. The staff were very friendly and seemed to be working hard to keep the place clean and presentable.
I'm not really sure why I included this place on my crawl round Peterborough, but I'm quite glad that I did and would go so far as to say that this is one of the best Wetherspoons pubs I've been to. A nice surprise.

Grainstore Gold, Rutland Panther, Holden's Special, Woodforde Wherry, Pedigree, Old Peculier, Directors, Ruddles, Abbot. It's a pretty good ‘spoons.

Not that much to say as it is after all a Wetherspoon's and they're all very similar. Open to midnight which is always handy (I think it maybe later on a weekend). They had TEN real ales on when we visited, but it was during their beer festival so I don't know what the usual number is.

This one's definately preferable to the other JDW in Peterborough (College Arms) and seems to be in a nicer part of town. That's from a very quick observation though, I don't know the area!

When i visited this pub it was called the Old Monk and i dont think it was a Spoons house.
Once inside this was a large modern pub converted from other use, with places this large there is always somewhere to sit but i am not that struck on these types of pubs.
There were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of London Pride and this was a nice drink the other beer was Boddingtons bitter.
