This is a large, white-painted building in a part of Horbury that has more trees than houses. The entrance is via a porch that has steps leading up, but also a ramp to one side. for wheelchair access. Once inside it's fairly modern and undistinguished, with new floor and new bar counter too by the looks of it. It's a Marstons pub with three hand pumps selling Hobgoblin and Hobgoblin Gold, plus Sunbeam. There's a DJ set up in one corner and a pool table to the right. It would be quite comfortable in here, and the beer was ok, but the loud music playing at 3 o'clock in the afternoon made me drink up quick and get out.

Fully describe by a&h below. All I have to add is that the conservatory was a complete mess with upturned chairs etc on my visit. For some reason all the fruit machines were turned off as well, they can't all be broken. 5 of the 6 handpumps in use, all pulling beers from the extended Marston's stable. My pint of Marston's New World Pale was in excellent nick. I don't think I'd want to settle down for a long session in here, but it's a nice enough place to call in for one.

Found tucked away just off Horbury high street and dating from 1834, the Kings Arms is an imposing three storey Marston’s house that oozes a certain faded grandeur. Unfortunately, the rather basic L-shaped interior fails to match the promise of the exterior and the quietly impressive setting. The main room has bare floorboards and wall benches, but otherwise very little of note, apart from the disco / karaoke equipment in the corner and a drop down screen, presumably for sporting events. A conservatory can be found to the left of the bar and a smaller room, housing a pool table, to the right.

At the bar there are six wickets, with one not in use, on my visit. Beers available were Banks’ Sunbeam, Pedigree New World, Wychwood Piledriver, Brakspears Bitter and Hobgoblin. On trying the Sunbeam and Pedigree, both were in very good condition, with the Pedigree outstanding. Not surprisingly, the pub has Cask Marque accreditation, of which the landlord is justly proud. Service from all the staff was friendly and welcoming and I was soon drawn into a conversation with them and fellow customers at the bar.

A decent atmosphere when I called on a Friday Lunchtime, with a handful of locals leading the good natured banter. Overall, I pegged The Kings Arms as a warm, if slightly basic, community local. However, I could certainly see myself calling again, when doing a crawl in the town.
