Graham Coombs left this review about The Whippet Inn

Primarily a rather smart restaurant, but it can find an odd table or two for drinkers in quite nice surroundings albeit a little begrudgingly. A little row of handpumps offered Roosters 24/7 and Ossett Yorkshire Blonde, with a few local craft on keg also. The beer was in good nick and not too badly priced at £4.30 but the food looked rather on the expensive side. Can only really give it 5 due to non-encouragement of drinkers but would score more highly otherwise.

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Whippet Inn

We received a decent welcome here, in spite of us only calling in for a beer. The staff were friendly and helpful when choosing a beer. There were four handpumps with three in operation and some Yorkshire lagers on draught. The owner explained to us, that he only sold Yorkshire ales and lagers which I thought was a good idea. The small bar on the right, consisted of wallpapered walls, terracotta tiled floor mixed tables and chairs and bench seating along the front wall. The bar area had a black painted front, with a solid oak counter.
There was a small room on the left of entrance, which had a trendy silver buttoned back rest along the wall, was used for private dining only. The main feature in the restaurant was the tin panelled ceiling, which was stamped out in block relief work. The beers we tried were in great shape, which were Bradfield Farmers Blonde and Helmsley Brewing Co Howardian Gold.

ROB Camra left this review about The Whippet Inn

This pub is mostly a restaurant now which is a complete change from its previous incarnation as the Yorkshire Hussar. There have been many internal changes and the place is now unrecognisable. The bar is up a few steps to the right, the main restaurant is to the rear and there's a small private dining room to the left. The bar area was very busy on our Friday, early evening visit and we stood up at one of the tall tables. Four handpumps on the go, all from Yorkshire breweries. The Roosters Fort Smith was in good nick and the dining menu looked interesting. We may well call in here for something to eat next time we're in York.

Old Boots left this review about The Whippet Inn

The labelling on the entrance stairs directs you straight on for the restaurant and right for drinking. Pushing through the double doors you find a bijou and compact bar with two Britannias, a converted sewing machine table and two rather tall tables with equally tall tubular metal stools, seating comprises four dining chairs and a bench fitted under the front window. The counter is along one wall and also serves the restaurant side. Four pulls on here with local beers from Roosters and Ilkley plus a low T bar of better than average tap stuff. Sexually aware wallpaper and a couple of interesting pictures complete the decor. The staff wear ties and long aprons, it's that kind of place the beer and service are very good though. The gents are along a corridor and this also leads to a garden. Beware, the interior decorating fairy has been at work in this pub!

Located just up from the river. Bar/restaurant serving 4 real ales. A small bar area at the front with a larger dining area at the rear.
