The decorators were in again when I called in here the other day, though the pub was still open and serving. Only one of the hand pumps had an ale on, but this was one of my favourites, Brakspears Bitter, which was OK but not tip top. The barmaid tried to charge me £2.60 for my half pint, but the landlady soon put her right when she saw the look of horror on my face.
It wouldn't be fair to talk about the decor, but there are one or two interesting pieces of furniture in a sort of snug corner to one side of the main large room, where there is an old tiled fireplace. There's a pool table by the front window. Toilets are upstairs.
Not by any means an outstanding pub, but worth a try if you're in these parts and don't like drinking Greene King beers.
