Standard pub well described below. It didn't leave me thrilled or disappointed. Quite busy on my visit and decent enough beer. I wouldn't miss it out of a pub crawl!

A traditional pub which has retained some original artefacts such as a Victorian cask iron fireplace, the original bar counter and had a separate small room on the left of entrance, which was appealing. Maybe I visited at the wrong time, as I found this pub to lack atmosphere and their line up of Marston's was also uninspiring. Three pumps in use with Marston's EPA, Boondoggle and TT Landlord.

A nice pub. I'm guessing its been done up since the last review. 5 handpumps and all were on. Marston's beers mostly. It certainly isn't the least impressive now.

This was the least impressive of the pubs visited on our pre-match crawl of Lichfield, in fact I would go so far as to say disappointing. The powerful fishy smell of someone's lunch that hit me upon entering didn't make a favourable first impression, and add to this the slightly manic feel about the atmosphere that I detect in shopping street pubs and you'll maybe get an idea of why I drank up quickly and left. Beers were from the Marstons range, of course, and the half of Ringwood Best that I sank left little impression.

A terraced undressed brick Marston's pub that occupies two former buildings. The entrance is hidden by an arcade, but the main window is impressive. There is a small beer garden at the back. It is known locally as The Drum.

The interior is an L-shaped open plan room. To the left on entry is a raised are and this was once a small shop (a barbers i was told). This room is like a little lounge and is in white mainly, with sme black patterned wallpaper, coffee ceiling and wood floor. There are fancy chandeliers and mirrors and bistro pictures. The main room is in red, undressed brick and wood panel, with some exposed beams in the walls. There are a few old photos and mirrors and there is a wall TV showing the rugby. Proper tables and wood settles are scattered about. The service was fine, the clientele mixed, mainly watching the rugby. There was no music.

Beer; tap stuff, with no MILD and Wychwood Dirty Tackle and a decent Pedigree on handpull.

For sometime i felt this place fattered to decieve - it should have been better than it was. Having visited a number of times since, i find it has upped it's game in my opinion. Worth popping into for one, as the beer, whilst a pretty standard choice, is always well kept.
