Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The George IV

Typical town-centre Craft Union boozer featuring two, semi-separate bars in a L-shaped arrangement. The front room is smaller but more comfortable than the elongated one (rather dominated by three sports TV screens) heading towards a pool room at the back. Also has some partly covered seating out in the rear yard, with a rear exit heading towards the Garrick Theatre. Doom Bar and Bass (£2.75) available from a pair of handpumps.

A quiet pub during the day, but comes to life of an evening with the younger crowd. This is a music venue pub with a decent sized stage area at the rear of the pub. The pub is modern in décor and was very clean and tidy. The young barmaid was helpful and very laid back and had a fine collection of tattoos. The piped music played on our Friday afternoon was bluesy and to my liking. Four handpumps, three from Purity and a Doombar. We went for the Purity Mad Goose, which was in good shape.

A pretty ok pub that seems to like its music as there are lots of posters dotted around. No Half Man Half Biscuit or Sonic Youth ones though. Ah well never mind. 3 handpumps at this time serving real ale.

Situated on a busy shopping street The George 1V re-opened in April after a lengthy closure for a refurb. At first glance it looks similar to one of Linda Barker's all to common botched jobs on the hideous TV programme Changing Rooms with Garish outlandish wallpaper, gaudy coloured painted walls and an hotch-potch of furniture styles.
The pub has two entrances and if you approach from the front there is a room to your immediate right with the bar forward of this, and further along another room with a stage and a separate bar is clearly used for functions and entertainment.
Called in for a quick one before my bus was due and was surprised to see so few customers for a sunny Saturday afternoon. The barman was friendly enough and found the Timothy Taylor Landlord the best choice of the three casks on handpull.

Soup Dragon left this review about George IV

Town centre pub, a brick and half timbered Georgian building (presumably dating, or first licensed around 1820-1830).

Sadly the interior has been refurbished so often, all feel of heritage has now gone. It is an 'L' shaped room, with a nice fire and Sky TV to the side, with a separate pool area. The decor was very modern, red flower on brown wallpaper, with candles, comfy chairs and sofa everywhere - there was a wood floor and ornate chandeliers hanging lighting the ornate mirrors - it was too much for me. Service was fine, as was the mixed music, which at least helped me get through the drink i ordered. The clientele were younger based and in jeans, strangely juxtaposed against their ornate surroundings.

Beer; usual tap stuff, no MILD, with Pedigree and Everard's Tiger on handpull - the Timothy Taylor Landlord was off. The Peddy was ok.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
