Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Clumsy Swan

New-build pub, part of the adjoining supermarket development, replacing the large roadhouse-style Yew Tree (a photograph of which can be found behind the counter). It now comprises a large single bar with a busy dartboard but no pool table as far as I could tell. Also has a semi-separate restaurant upstairs (although not open at the moment), and quite a large patio beer garden at the front. Unfortunately, the real ale (evidenced by some pump clips on the wall that aren't that old) has disappeared, leaving a slightly unexpected 'choice' between John Smith's and Worthington's, with the latter proving to be just £2.20.

As of February 3rd the Yew Tree is being converted to flats, and will not re-open as a pub.

What a terrible effort of creating a pub this is. I believe there was a large roadside building here until about 2002, then this was knocked down to create a low class collection of fast food restaurants. To their credit, or maybe because of planning, they created a new pub, facing the traffic island.

But its a very basic fit out of a shell, can't really say a lot else - big open space with various tables and chairs, modern brick place. Very light. Its like, well, a coach station waiting area, it almost has the feel of a Wetherspoons, but this place makes Wetherspoons seem really really upmarket.

But, it was busy, so, that says something, maybe I'm turning too pompous I don't know, but for me this place is dreadful.

Keg Worthingtons.
