Thought I knew all the pubs in the Jewellery Quarter but this was a first visit.

Formerly the George and Dragon, dating from 1820, its had a smart makeover inside and out and is a better than average inner city craft beer bar.

There were a couple of cask on - but on the hottest day of the year so far and few other punters at 4pm, I didnt trust that.

Instead, a good selection of craft - Pollys Petal chosen - at an slightly eye watering but I need to get over it £6.50.

Nice atmosphere and the place slowly filled up. With fun loving young teachers, clocking off for the weekend.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Pig & Tail

Interesting-looking pub beside Dayus Square, given quite a modern makeover externally, but (very) slightly more traditional inside than I expected. Remodelled to leave a narrow staple-shaped bar along the frontage, with various small seating / dining areas at each end. Ten (mostly crafty) taps on the main keg fount, plus a pair of handpumps - offering Wye Valley HPA and an excellent Babyface from the local Halton Turner (£4.00) - on one end of the counter.

Basically this is a pub transformed into a craft bar the atmosphere and decor was light and airy with the plain walls decorated with works of art, some of which were for sale. I chose an Attic Brew Intuition which was good while drinking partner Big Steve had a Wheat beer he reckons was excellent.
I would certainly look in again.

A nice looking pub. A thin bar with 9 taps for fizz and 2 handpulls, which were unfortunately unclipped. It's an ok place and I'm glad I visited, however I doubt I'll ever be back while it is as it is.

Called in on Saturday and had no problem with the bar, which has been well described. The background music was fine too. I chose 2 half pints of beer from the font range Tiny Rebel Dutty 4.2% and Alphabet Brewing Company Juice Springsteen 4.5% both of which had £4 showing against them on the board. I was charged £6 so queried it. They don't serve pints and the price on the board is for 2/3. Lesson has been learned. The beer was too cold to have any flavour, but was not too bad after it had been stood a while.

A stunning looking pub, especially of an evening when the place is illuminated. You really get to see the amount of individual panes of glass, framed against the ornate exterior timber work.
We thought the staff on our visit were very friendly and chatty, who seemed to take great interest in the pub. The interior is shabby chic with mint painted walls, some wallpapered walls and undressed brick. The bar counter had a steel trim with timber inlay, which I haven't see before. Eight craft beers on key keg and two handpulls, serving Sharps Atlantic and Tiny Rebel Marshmallow porter. I went for the Vocation Heart and Soul IPA, which was excellent.

Newly refurbed, I have read this is one of the oldest pubs in the area? Modern refurb with an open kitchen at the back, a long corridor front bar opening up to a slightly bigger space at the street corner.

The walls are pastel and grey, with some, lets say 'interesting' art work hanging that is also for sale.

There is an outside courtyard with some bamboo planters and plastic chairs but little else, needs to mature a little here but it has only just opened.

The menu is sharing boards of a tapas style.

There are two real ales - sadly an uninspired and not local chain offering in Sharps Atlantic, but also a Manchester beer I personally havn't seen before.

This is the sister venture to the City Centre's Pickled Piglet restaurant.

I visited this one the other night just to take a look at what is going on. It currently has scaffolding all around it, but in would suggest this is for safety reasons more than anything else. I have never seen the pub open and it is currently in a sorry state, but it is a listed building, so I assume something will be done eventually.
