Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Slug & Lettuce

One of two branches of the Slug & Lettuce chain in York, this one lies on the eastern side of the Ouse Bridge. With a published midnight closing time, I arrived as most people were leaving. I seem to recall just a couple of other people still in when I got served. The young barmaid seemed happy to serve me, as it was still around 23:50 and she did warn me that they were due to close. Another young guy did come and say something to her after I walked away from the bar. My guess is that had I approached him, I wouldn't have been served!

Loud music was playing even after the other couple had disappeared. However, other than the music, I was left to finish my half of Brewdog Wingman in relative piece whilst the bar staff cleared up. Other keg choices were Moretti, Inch's, Guinness, Peroni, Rekorderlig & Amstel. Needless to say, there is no cask ale here.

Not really my cup of tea, but a reasonable place for a nightcap.

This is a long and thin Slug & Lettuce with high tables in the windows either side of the entrance and a long bar counter up the left hand wall that faces high booths up the right. At the rear is a row of standard tables before a step up to a raised seating area. The seating down the right-hand side affords views of the river. The service was polite, but only premium keg was available. As my midweek afternoon visit started turning into early evening the average age, and amount of clothing worn, reduced dramatically. My girls liked the relaxed trendy vibe and upbeat background music, but I was less keen and was glad to leave.

Hugely modernised into a cross between a giant cocktail bar and a restaurant, with lots of glitzy glass and twinkly lights. A long bar counter runs down the side, with an actual cocktail bar at the rear in an eating area. Sadly no ales any more, with just an overpriced Brewdog jostling with Eurofizz lagers.

Quite shocked when we walked in here, with how big this Slug and Little Gem is. There was a long bar on the left serving four ales, two from York Brewery, a Hobgoblin and GK IPA. Plenty of seating along the right, which gives great views of the River Ouse.

This pub is next to Ouse bridge and the river.
Once inside here the pub goes back a long way the bar is on the left and there is a raised seating area to the right these seats overlook the river, most areas of the pub have bare boards and the place has a modern look to it.
There were two real ales on the bar and i had a drink of York Guzzler and this was very nice the other beer was Black Sheep bitter.
The pub was quiet on our sunday morning visit. Most customers in here were eating and we had a breakfast and this was very nice.
This is not really a drinkers pub but drinkers are made just as welcome as diners.
