Although not badged as a Greene King pub surely nowhere else would sell a beer called Hardy & Hansons Rocked Out and in barely drinkable condition. Another clue was the helpful local getting the barmaid out of wherever she was to serve me. The front of the pub is OK old pub style with a modern looking rear, although the lights were off. There's an odd mix of mock Tudor and some probably 1930s fittings otherwise not worth the walk.

Previously The West End, this former cottage, now extended, sits next to the law courts and has a single, surprisingly large bar which runs the full depth of the building. It has an open fire, vinyl sofas and church pews. The locals are a good bunch of normal people. They do cheap pub food and regular theme nights – for example Sunday night roasts and Wednesday curry nights. The pub dog is a fat labrador, also quite sociable. Two ales on I had the Landlord which was tolerable but not brilliantly kept. Worth popping in for an early meal with a cheap pint.
