A nice exterior but the inside of this Spoons is fairly modern and mundane and felt a bit claustrophobic to me. There was a reasonable range of guest ales from Lincoln Green and others but not much else of note.

This is a fairly typical open plan Spoons as described below consisting of a long room with two sets of five hand pumps. On my Saturday afternoon visit one set had the JDW Trio Of Doom, a cider and Kelham Islan Easy Rider while the other had Locale (ish) beers including Stancil India Ruby, Maxim Swedish Blonde, Lincoln Green Quarterstaff and a Pheasantry beer. I went for the Quarterstaff as a drink with a meal so didn't catch the price but the standard guest ale price here is £2.35. Although this is more expensive than the plusher Portland Hotel this one had a better beer choice so I make that quits between the two.

A pretty decent Wethers. Its a long pub and a good variety of beers were available from the 10 handpumps. A visible price list for spirit drinkers was displayed behind the bar.

A good looking building from the outside, being brick built and also half timbered in black & white. Once inside it's the usual JDW format, with lots of high tables & chairs near the window and normal dining tables and chairs further back. A good selection of guest ales on the bar and my pint was in very good nick. It's a very pleasant JDW during the day, who knows what it's like at night though.

This is the sister Spoon to the larger Portland Hotel in the Market Square. They have different beers to the Portland. On the day, I had Acorn England Dreaming and Milestone St George's Legend. Wouldn't go out of my way to return.

Loads of guest ales in this modern Spoons (despite the Tudor-esque frontage) near to the station. My Bradfield Farmers Stout was fine, despite the ale itself being a rather insipid but I had the lucky bonus of being long-changed by the ditzy barmaid to make up for it. The pub is set on a hill, so you take a couple of steps from the entrance to get into the action. Layout is typical open-plan Spoons, though the brightly lit colourful bar reminded me, as it did Pubsignman, of a more pleasant variant of a Lloyds No.1 bar (perhaps this is a de-branded one?). My swift visit was spoilt by two shouty blokes squaring up and the female kiddie staff doing nothing due to lack of leadership/gumption…so the shouty blokes kept on being, erm, shouty; I got out before it turned nasty. Wasn’t even a footy day!

Given what else Chesterfield has to offer, you shouldn’t unduly trouble yourself with this one.

This is a fairly run of the mill Wetherspoons pub in the middle of Chesterfield. The long, narrow interior is all light and shiny, with bright walls and metallic fixtures, making it reminiscent of a Lloyds No 1 bar. It was nice and clean though, despite having quite a few post-football drinkers in.
Six guest ales, plus the usual suspects were on the ten hand pumps. I had a pint of Okell's Alt, which tasted okay, but took a while to settle and was served a bit too cold.
Not a great 'Spoons and with a few decent pubs a short walk from here, not a place I'm likely to return to, but it will appeal, no doubt, to the typical JDW customer base.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Spa Lanes Vaults (JD Wetherspoon)

Monday night is obviously a quiet night in Chesterfield, with quite a few bars and clubs closed (and even a couple of the pubs). As a result, this is the emptiest Wetherspoons that I have ever been in, with about three customers in total. Several interesting beers on, and cheap as usual.
