A handsome building which in previous lives has been a temperance hall, a bingo hall and stables. Inside is a classic modern-era Spoons with mauve and white colours, the bar and booths have an American diner feel. Spick and span, kudos to the management. A good American Breakfast and a very tidy pint of Leeds midnight Bell (NBSS 4) given it came out at 11am all served-up with a friendly smile. Three other guest casks in addition. Well-run and pleasant JDW.

Standard average Wetherspoons though beer and service are better than some of their offerings

Two banks of pumps at the bar, one had the usual Spoons selection plus a couple of ciders. The other had the guest ales with one of those marked as "coming sooon". All seemed to be pale / blonde, did not spot any darks. There may have been a bitter too. I had the Chinook Blonde by Goose Eye, which was very pleasant. Have been a few times now, and always managed to have a pint of something interesting that I had not had before.

Easy to find, especially if you are on the bus as the nearby stop is displayed on the bus as the Wetherspoon's stop. This large traditional style Spoons featured a grand oak staircase which lead to the upstairs toilets. The bar was situated along the back wall and was finished with a black granite counter, white front, with strip lighting running along the full length. The lounge area on the left of the bar featured a modern designed fireplace with canopy and stainless steel flue. Ten ales across two banks of five pubs, nothing to grab your interest on our visit and the best choice of ales were coming soon, and some doubled up. Hook Norton Old Hooky was about the best choice.

This is a grand old Pennine building with a mixed history. Inside it's a fairly standard JDW consisting of a large open plan room with typical fixtures and fittings.
The bar has two sets of five hand pumps which had the JDW Trio Of Doom, two ciders, GK Abbot Reserve, Summerskill's First Light, Naylor's NYB, Coach House Innkeepers and Tring Tea Kettle Stout. I went for the Summerskill beer (£2.30) which was hazy but OK apart from that.
I thought this JDW was better than average.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Livery Rooms (JD Wetherspoon)

Impressive stone building, with previous uses ironically including that of a Temperance Hall (look above the old side door at first-floor level). Partly opened-out to leave plenty of different seating areas. Little of note decor-wise. Eight real ales (including Lancaster Brewhouse Albion Connection, £1.95) and two ciders on handpump.
