Brighouse's branch of Wetherspoon's certainly has an impressive interior. Well preserved pews at an upper level still preside over the drinking area below. You cannot access the upper balcony, to the best of my knowledge.

Otherwise, this is a typical open-plan branch of the chain. Most tables were taken on my Thursday evening visit. Indeed, I'd contemplated having a meal on their curry night here. But I'd have been lucky to have found a table. I contented myself with a stool next to a shelf on which to rest my pint. Whilst still inside, I was next to the outdoor seating area which can be found to the side of the pub.

The usual 'spoon's ale selection was on - Greene King Abbot, Ruddles Best & Sharp's Doom Bar. Guests were almost all from Ossett - White Rat, Voodoo, Excelcius, Butterley & Yorkshire Blonde. The sole exception was Marston's Old Empire, whilst the cider was Weston's Old Rosie.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Richard Oastler (JD Wetherspoon)

Interesting 'spoons housed in an imposing former chapel, with pews in a lozenge-shaped gallery above the main seating / dining area, chandeliers and an impressive set of organ pipes. Also has further seating in a smaller rear room and outside on the terrace. In addition to the usual trio, had Elland Nettle Thrasher (£2.10) and other real ales from Moorhouse's, Ossett, Phoenix, Goose Eye and Lees from the two banks of six handpumps. Definitely one of the best from this chain I been to recently.

Old Boots left this review about The Richard Oastler (JD Wetherspoon)

Small spoons in an old chapel, the counter is at the far end with two banks of pulls with the good and usuals spread about, interspersed with the T-Bars of National kegs. Under some sort of renovation or repair when I visited, the mezzanine floor was inaccessible due to scaffolding. The old organ still exists above the servery. Downstairs toilets and there’s a beer garden at the rear.

The Richard Oastler is a Wetherspoons that is housed in a old and grand looking building.
Once inside there is a square shaped room with the bar facing at the rear, the middle area is bare boarded, there are tall tables and chairs in this area, the areas at either side of the room are carpeted and have normal tables and chairs.
There was a decent choice of guest beers on the bar,i had a drink of Acorn Forest which went down well, the other beers noted were Elland 1872 Porter,Moorhouses Blonde Witch,Moorhouses Pendle Witch and Spoons regulars GK IPA,Doom Bar and Abbot.
I thought this was a very pleasant Wetherspoons to have a drink in.

Well, this will my local for the next two weeks and I've been here almost six months and have lived here before, so excuse the bias. It's a good Spoons and I've got to know many of the barstaff. I surprise them occasionally by changing from my usual to one of the guest ales. It is in the middle of a festival, so I may try a few new ones tomorrow.

This is a very impressive Spoons set in an old chapel with an ornate ceiling, a huge organ above the bar and chandeliers to swing from if you can reach them and feel that way inclined. There is a patio to the side.
It was surprisingly quiet on my Wednesday afternoon visit with mainly people who had come to eat.
The bar has two sets of hand pumps which had no Available Soon and no blanks. Beers available were the JDW Trio of Doom with the two GK beers doubled up, Goose Eye Bitter, Chinook & Pommies Revenge, Saltaire Blackberry Cascade & Blonde, Elland SPA and Moorhouse Blond Witch. I went for the Blackberry Cascade (£2.35) which was in first class condition. This was the best Spoons I had been to for some time and is definitely a top one.

A JDW housed in a very impressive building which was originally a Methodist chapel built in 1878. The main room is in the old chapel hall and has an upstairs area still with pews and organ, sadly this is not accessible to the public. Some massive chandeliers hang from the a very interesting ceiling. There are alcoves at one end of the pub and behind them is another smaller room, also with alcoves which was probably a vestry or something similar. There's also an outside terrace used as a beer garden. It was a very nice afternoon when I visited which means that the outside area was populated by a bunch of loud, shirtless numpties. A good range of guest ales on the bar, 5 on my visit and the Acorn Comet IPA was in very good nick. I was very impressed with this pub, if not by the numpties outside.

The pub is named after the prominent leader of the factory reform, who lived nearby at Fixby hall for many years, and is housed in the former Central Methodist Church. An excellent restoration has been undergone, with the Church organ pipes still intact on the upper balcony, (Although sadly out of bounds)the painted ceiling and quite a few pew styled booths dotted around.Called in around 10-30 on a weekday morning and was in a rare position to have a choice of two barmaids to serve me.There was a fair array of real ales on offer with The Wharfedale Brewery's Wispa IPA (5.1abv)in good nick.
