A smallish Wethers with 4 distinct areas to sit. Two small rooms are to either side of the entrance. A central area, containing the bar leads to a larger room used mostly for dining/eating. 10 handpumps with 5 ales duplicated. An average Wethers.

A very small and slightly unusual JDW. There's a small room to the right as you enter that has a big screen showing sport. A conservatory area to the left and a little bit further in, another small room facing the bar. It then opens up into a larger, typical JDW, eating area. A reasonable range of guest beers on the bar, especially for the size of the pub and my pint was in good nick. The place was very busy on my Friday late afternoon visit. My visit was somewhat ruined by some screaming, feral brats, but apart from that it's a decent enough pub.

The Cotton Bale, along with a couple of other pubs lies very close to Hyde's market square.called in one lunchtime to find the usual 'Spoons' set up.There is a modest size room that opens out as you walk past the bar area, and there is also a small seating area upstairs near to the toilets. They had around 6 real ales on offer, the one I sampled was The Howard Town brewery's Glotts Hop (5.0abv)which was par for the course.
