Rob Hunter left this review about Brewhouse & Kitchen

Visited today - it looks like this is the first review on here since it has become the Brewhouse & Kitchen. This is a fairly large pub and on entering there is a bit of a walk to the bar which is to the rear of the pub.

At the all important bar are four hand pulls for cask ale offering their own beers. I had the Bollin Ruby, a bitter, at £1.85 for a half. The others were a golden ale, a traditional IPA and an American pale ale. There were 10 different beers on the keg fonts including some of their own beers, plus another 9 on the back wall which I assume are mainly for guests and rotating house beers.

At the seating area in front of the bar there are some distressed dirty old doors decorating the ceiling at both ends, with a large section in the middle being a glass roof allowing plenty of natural light in to what would probably be quite a dark area otherwise. There are lights suspended above the bar made from old beer bottles, which I thought was a nice quirky touch.

Similar to the Brewhouse & Kitchen in Chester, there is a big round table seating about 12 people with a big firepit type thing in the middle (not lit today). Quite why one chap on his own decided to sit himself at this particular table is anyone's guess; I felt bad enough occupying a table for four even though it wasn't busy.

The brewery operation is visible from the bar and from a viewing window as you go upstairs to the toilets, with the large copper tanks being quite pleasing on the eye.

I liked this, perhaps not quite as much as the one in Chester, but I'd definitely go back if I am in the area.

Visit 27th April 2016

This is one of the 34 from the list of closures from last November and I got here just in time as it is due to close W/E 08th May and open as a Brewhouse & Kitchen pub.
The reason for the closure is pretty obvious as it really is quite a large outlet and on my early afternoon visit was very quiet. I don't know much about Wilmslow but can't imagine it's a very big town and being part of or at least close to the snooty Cheshire set, most of the inhabitants wouldn't be seen dead in a Spoons.
For what it's worth, as a Spoons it's a large rambling place with the bar in the far corner in some sort of conservatory.
The bar has eight hand pumps of which one was unused and the rest with two exceptions were devoted to local brews, two of which were Robinson's. The JDW Trio Of Doom was completely absent. I tried Mauldon's Cuckoo and Mobberley Brewhouse Road Runner, both £2.45 and in good condition.
Overall I thought this was a better than average Spoons but the price of the Steak Club (£6.25) says it all.

Al Bundy left this review about The Bollin Fee (JD Wetherspoon)

A large and, sadly, a bit of a tired Wethers. Its apparently one the ones up for sale and the fact that it was empty on this Friday afternoon sort of says why. 7 handpumps today dispensed a rather poor selection of beers. The large conservatory part where the bar is seemed the most popular place to sit.

Dont bother, terrible food, and appalling service. Nice building with a good selection of beers, but let down by lack of quality staff and food.
