As the name suggests this is another cinema conversion. Although it's not obvious how it was laid out inside, it does look like an old cinema. It has a front patio leading to the entrance then inside it's one big rectangular room with a high ceiling, the bar on the right and a dog leg at the bottom left with some extra low tables and chairs. The furnishings are not that great and on a Saturday afternoon it seemed fairly quiet. That may be because it's not very central compared to the main shopping area of Widnes.
I originally thought the bar had just five hand pumps but later noticed that were five more hidden behind the coffee dispenser. As these had one unused, three available soon and one I couldn't read it didn't really matter. The other five had one unused, one available soon, Peerless Skyline & Knee Buckler IPA and Abbot. It was only the presence of a couple of Peerless beers which prevented it from being a complete disaster. The Knee Buckler IPA (£2.25) was in good nick.
This is the poorest JDW I've been to for a while. The fact that the toilets are on the ground floor is probably it's biggest selling point.

One of the worst Wethers I've been in. If you want serving with just drinks make sure you're right in front of a till and that you have a menu in your hand. If the staff have to move away from the till to serve you, forget it. Shabby service. The pubs not particularly good anyway.

Basic JDW pub which lacks any real interior features, and on my Tuesday visit had a poor selection of cask ales on.On entering, the bar is on your right, and to the left are 6 booths and further down a raised platform area.Apart from the usual suspects of Abbot's and Ruddles, there was 3 beers available soon and 3 other that were available. On the plus side it is not a long march to the toilets.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Premier (JD Wetherspoon)

This converted building looks distinctive from the road, but it is not obvious that it was formerly a cinema. It is no easier to guess its former use once inside either, as you just have a large 'L'-shaped room with some side booths. Front patio terrace and side patio beer garden. 2011 GBG listed. Looked a bit of a rough-house when I passed by on Saturday night but much calmer when I visited on Sunday morning. Fair choice of beer from the array of handpumps, but beers such as Saltaire Cascadian Black are excellent value at £1.80. (NB - Review dates from September 2011.)

Rude staff, rude management who wouldn't give their name to allow us to make a complaint to head office due to the "data protection act"?
Recommend avoiding this one and trying one of the other pubs in the town.
