Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Harvester George Stephenson

Large new-build Harvester with all the usual dull dining areas and a Fuzzy Ed's children's play centre at one end. However, there is a separate, more pub-like area at the other. The latter features three disused handpumps, and with only a limited number of standard keg beers available, I went for a bottled Sharp's Atlantic (£3.20) from one of the fridges.

I moved to Walsall in 2002 and this was the first family pub I went to. My family and I use to frequent this pub quite a lot. But unfortunatly it has really gone down hill in the last couple of years and so I haven't been there since December 2008. My last experience there was one of the worst I've ever experienced in a pub. I had pre-booked a christmas meal for my work friends and I. I had pre-ordered a bottle of wine and asked for it to be on the table for when we arrived as a treat from me to my friends.. this never happened and when I asked about the wine I had pre-booked I was informed it was sold out. We had to wait ages for our meal and when the meal eventually arrived found it be ok but nothing special. I think the worst part of the evening was the state the toilets were in. I think there are 5 toilets in total in the lady's rest room and only 2 were in order and one of those the door was missing the door frame and lock, so we had to take turns holding the door for each other.. nice, seeing as the toilets had been exactly the same way 2 months before hand when I took my daughter there for her 5th birthday. I also had the same experience that time with service. We had our main meals and waited so long for our deserts, that I had to go and ask where they were and then when the deserts arrived they had no where to put the plates because they hadn't cleaned up from our main course. Again, the food was ok. This used to be a great family pub.. such a shame it's gone so down hill. 3 stars from me and that's just based on the food being ok :(

Soup Dragon left this review about George Stephenson

A large, detached, brick and terribly fake half timber look, with beer patio, outdoor kids play area and Whacky Wharehouse type thing.

The interior is open plan, in the usual Pubco way, but this is a particularly dull Two for One place. The decor is predominantly terquoisey and white coloured, with the dreadful arty pictures and although set out for food, there was the usual sofa and a few pouffes laid out. The service was functional from what appeared as student based staff and the clientele mixed. There was Sky TV and the easy listening music played at an ok level.

We ate here and, but of course, the one thing from the menu i wanted, was out of stock. What we ended up with was as functional as the service and the beer choice. Beer; well its all tap stuff, no real ale and not even a keg MILD. I had to have Guinness.

Had we not been after a quick lunch, i would have left. While it is not as bad as an Ember Inn, it was more of an ordeal than the half-day i had just spent at a job interview.
