Looks like a Spoons from the outside and feels like one on entering. However it's an M&B pub, with the aforementioned JDWesque open-plan style but without the beer or burger range. Essentially a reverse Y shaped room with little of interest but also little to offend either. Five pumps with three ales and a cider. Beers were Doom Bar, Marstons Pedigree and Wainwright (dull, dull, and dull). My half of the Wainwright was pretty flat (NBSS 2) but at least came in at a wallet friendly £1.50 which meant I was happy enough to cut my losses after a few sips. Not one to prioritise. 5.5

Decent city centre pub where the prices are reasonable. As Gill says it can get packed on match days. Usually a couple of odd beers on with Moles Mole Catcher being on for my last visit along with Purity Mad Goose.

Probably a bad day to pick for a visit as full of Aston Villa fans, but e did manage to find seats, and I got to the bar where I found an excellent Thornbridge Jaipur among the 5 ales I believe on. Difficult to see round the bar, but there was a raised area at the rar which may have been for dining when the pub was not filled with football fans. Menu looked good and reasonable anyway. Staff friendly.

A normal city centre eatery/beery pub. There are indeed 5 real ales and not too bad a selection either as none of them were your standards. I didn't mind it.

Oggwyn Great left this review about The Windsor

As pointed out previously this is a Wetherspoons alike with cheap food and drink deals and the clientelle from the lower end of the market !
Its a pleasant enough looking pub but once inside its just one big bland room .
Five handpulls with mostly nationals GK ipa , Bombardier etc , the only slightly intresting beer was Everards Sunchaser which was just about OK .
Very busy on my Saturday afternoon visit .

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Windsor

First re-visit for a couple of years, but little seems to have changed. Essentially, it is M&B's version of a Wetherspoons with much the same in the way of decor (albeit a bit tatty now) in the split-level, walk-around bar plus reasonably-priced food and beer. All five handpumps were on this time, offering Greene King IPA, London Pride, Landlord, Purity Pure UBU and Copper Dragon Golden Pippin (at a reasonable £2.80). OK for a quick one but not the sort of place you would want to spend the evening in.

The Windsor is situated fairly close to New Street station.
Once inside there is a large square shaped room with the bar facing, the room is carpeted and had bench seating and normal tables and chairs, there was a raised area which was behind the bar.
There were five pumps on the bar but only one in use on my visit, this had Pedigree on which was a decent drink and also cheap for Birmingham.
The pub was packed with a mixed bunch on my late Saturday afternoon visit, there was also some decent background music playing.
This pub is ok for a quick drink.

Soup Dragon left this review about The Windsor

A terraced town centre M&B Samuel Cooper pub/eatery with red and white frontage.

The interior is an open plan room that actually encompasses the servince bar completely. The decor is, like the outside, red and white, but with some wood panel and the odd wall with red patterned wallpaper, oh! and a white ceiling. It is very Spoons like - budget drinks and menu, with silent TVs (BBC News channel) and it had quiet general background music. There were pictures of old Brum on the walls. The service was fine and the clientele was a mixed as a Spoons.

Beer; tap stuff, with Pedigree, Deuchars IPA and Marston's EPA on handpull. The Pedigree, often like a Spoons, was flat and lifeless.

Happy to have gone it, as it was the first time since the 1980s - Le Pub usued to be opposite in the days of mullet hair for lads, ra-ra skirts for girls and shoulder pads for both! likely another 25 years before i go back.

Andy Ven left this review about The Windsor

This place has upped its game recently. It is now one of five sites being used by M&B to trial its new Samuel Cooper Freehouse brand.

You can be forgiven for thinking, when you first walk in, that you have entered a Wetherspoon’s but that is the section of the market they are pitching themselves at.

The music was at a low level to allow conversation without having to raise my voice and several flat screen TVs dotted around the single room pub showed BBC News 24 with the sound muted but with subtitles. Clientele was mixed and the place was busy enough for a lunchtime but not full – maybe the word hasn’t yet got around that this place is cheap.

I didn’t eat but we noticed that food is cheap: £3.49 for a roast dinner; steak sandwich was £2-something. Sunday roasts were advertised at £5.99. Costa Coffee was also on offer. I understand it opens for breakfasts at 10.00am.

Aside from the usual tap stuff (but no MILD) there were 5 handpulls offering Timothy Taylor Landlord, Marston’s Pedigree and EPA, Brakspear Oxford Gold and Deuchars IPA, ranging in price from £1.89 to £2.49 per pint – all similar styles but decent value. In addition, if you order a soft drink of Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Pepsi Max or R Whites Lemonade you will be charged £1.79 and given an empty glass but then invited to fill it up as many times as you like from the self-service taps at the side of the bar which is a bargain if you’ve brought the kids or you’re driving.

I had the Deuchars and the chap who served it to me (in a handled glass) said he though that it could be coming to the end of the barrel and to just ask if I wanted it changing. It settled after a minute so I drank it but he asked me again when he came around collecting empties if it was OK. Brownie points for that.

It was comfortable in there and we’ll definitely go back again (as long as it doesn’t get packed, humbug that I am)
