Cask Marque accredited. Found this strange for a Hungry Horse type pub. Knew what to expect and it sadly matched those expectations. Cheap food, mainly setup for dining. Tribute was in good condition at £3.

This is a detached Hungry Horse chain pub/eatery, with beer garden and patio areas, along with a kid's play area. It is a 1930s rebuild of a pub of the same name on the same site (former hamlet of Upper Witton), when the area was turned over for new housing at that time. It is a mock-Tudor style, with plain brick and stone moulding around the doors and windows, The front facing gables are painted in a light colour. The interior has a large, roughly L-shaped room, with a bar area to the left on entry, which has comfy seats and a dart board. The rest is given over to dining, with a kid's play area at the back. It is in an orange, grey and cream decor, with some 'busy' patterned wallpaper. There are the usual vases and pots, which desperately need knocking-off the wood shelving by some unruly kid passionately heading for the play area. The TV's had silent programmes, while the music was general and at a decent level. Some old photos are on the walls. The service was fine and the clientele, few and just drinking. Beer; usual tap stuff, with Spekky Hen on handpull - the Abbot and GK IPA having ran out. Cheap and cheerful food for the family, but sterile to anyone else.
