Nice looking Irish themed pub. Sharps Atlantic and Doom Bar taps but neither in use. I asked for Hophouse 13, again not in use. I then asked for Coors and guess what? Not on I'm afraid. Normally I would use the 3 strikes and out rule but when in Rome, I'll go for Guinness. The barmaid struggled to pour it and said "I'm not used to this, we don't sell much of it"!
The pub was busy so the locals like it - I think I will leave it to them in the future!

Skiddle-aye-dee Irish themed pub. A U-shaped bar and interior. Wooden, stone and tiled floor inside and usual Irish decorations throughout. There is one handpump on the bar but its unused. Its a decent enough place for a drink but not great.

I have been to this pub on many occasions, usually of a friday or Saturday evening. On every occasion I have found this pub to have a wonderful and welcoming atmosphere and I have also recommended this pub to many of my friends. I also like the fact that this pub attracts people of a variety of ages. I am myself 28 and would much rather spend an evening in Flan O'Briens than Chicago Rock or yates or the like. I have always found the bar staff to be polite and friendly. This pub also boasts great entertainment with a fun karaoke/disco. 10 stars from me :)

I popped in during a mid-week afternoon while I still had 15 minutes left on my pay and display ticket. I was surprised how quiet it was but then it may have been before the end of work influx. It's therefore difficult to comment on the clientele on this occasion but I have been in now and again over the years (back to when it was the Borough Arms, a down to earth town boozer).
It's improved since and for a time attracted some of the crowd from the Rising Sun (ex Watering Trough) and the Wheatsheaf.
On this occasion the chap behind the bar was friendly enough and the gaffer didn't mind me taking photos.
The pub is an Irish themed pub these days with mainly rustic furniture but with a small area with padded seating. There's also some of the expected Irish-pub paraphernalia adorning the walls and ceiling.
Beer was mainly the usual tap offerings (as you can see from the photos) but there is currently Hopback Summer Lightning on one handpull (I had time for a half which was fine although my preferred taste is for something a shade darker). The barman explained that they used to offer cask Pedigree -they weren't shifting it quickly enough but the Summer Lightning was selling OK. They are also considering putting on a weekly changing guest ale.
I'll pop in again at some point, most probably on my way around a town crawl, and I'd be OK with that but I'm not likely to spend a whole evening here (particularly if it's disco night).
Each to their own (and I respect everyone's opinion who has previously posted), it's not a bad place but it's stretching it, in my own opinion, to say it has the best beer in Walsall when it's up against places like the White Lion, The Black Country Arms, The Walsall Arms, The Pretty Bricks or The Fountain who offer a wider choice for real ale drinkers.
I gave it 6 but a regular additional handpull might get it up to 7 for me.

What a load of rubbish. I am a regular at this pub and i can tell you It has a different guest ale on every week without fail, it doesn't allow chavs in there, there aren't a lot of young people in there and the ones that do come in know to be very respectful or they are out the door and are not coming back in. this pub has a lot of regulars because it has the best beer bar none in the whole of walsall. It is a very interesting pub with the old pictures and photos on the walls and a great, friendly atmosphere

A fantastic detached pub, with with green ceramic tile and brick exterior.

The interior is open plan and equally impressive, with white and dark red and wood panel decor, old photos on the wall and a nice tiled fireplace, wood and chessboard floor. Sadly, that is where it ends. There is loud music and large screen TV, in this now Irish themed pub that has Celtic memorabilia and other such stuff on the walls. The service was fine, the clientele a mix from the chav to the normal.

Beer; simple tap tosh, no real ale, just a so-so Banks's MILD on keg.

Sorry, but i wouldnt go back here again, what a real waste of a decent building, that its almost criminal
