Found in a large imposing stand-alone red Manchester brick building is the Mowbray Arms that had a decent sized crowd in during a recent Monday evening visit. The demographic was mainly people born before the 1970s, but I don’t mind that. The interior is open plan with banquette seating around the exterior walls and a bar counter just off centre to the left on the rear wall. Standard keg was available alongside Cruzcampo. Televisions throughout were airing Monday night football build up via Sky Sports, but this was muted in favour of some background music. I left before kick-off, but would be surprised if the sound didn’t go on. I didn’t visit the advertised function room. I found the service to be polite, the pub well looked after and the other customers were nice enough. The décor is forgettable, but I’d pop back in if passing.

This pub used to be a Last Orders and boy does it show. It's one, very large room which was full of male D4's swearing at each other on my Friday late afternoon visit. A busy pub, but only one person behind the bar, so it took ages to get served. No real ale, but it is very cheap. Go round the corner to the Mare & Foal would be my advice for a decent pint.
