Real Ale Ray left this review about The Woodman Inn

After this pub's closure, a couple who live close by decided to buy the pub and refurb it as they had no local pub to them. I believe extensive work was carried out along with the rear garden area, which is used for various events throughout the summer.
The interior was smart and comfortable with three good sized rooms. The main bar was situated in the front room and this room hosted a large bay window with upholstered banquette seating. The two back rooms were also of a high standard of decor, along with a pool table.
Two beers on handpump TT Landlord and Bombardier, plus one cider which was Seacider.

Old Boots left this review about The Woodman Inn

Reopened by Black Storm Brewing it’s a bit of a walk up the hill of Claypath then Gilesgate almost to the big roundabout. Description wise it’s pretty much as Alan Winfield described it in 2016, there are three pulls, not unnaturally all beers from Black Storm. The choices were a Porter, an unknown but strong seasonal and a weak pale ale, which isn’t brilliant. Usual kegs on two T-bars, the bottles all appeared to be from Black Storm perhaps in an homage to Sam Smiths.

The Woodman Inn is a short walk from the middle of Durham along claypath then onto gilesgate.
Once inside there is a single opened out room which is divided into two areas by a wall, the front area is square shaped and carpeted, the seating is comfy bench type and small stools and chairs, the bar is on the left side, there was also a TV to the left which was showing the Everton v Arsenal game.
The rear area is oblong shaped and has a pool table and bench seating on the right side.
There was one real ale on the bar which was Saddlers Hop Bomb, this was a decent drink.
Background music was playing which was a blessing as the pub was empty on my Saturday afternoon visit.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Woodman Inn

A real traditional local, with seating in the front room, pool, newspapers and good-natured banter. Three handpumps, with beers including Hobgoblin and Theakston Christmas Ale (£2.00 on special offer). Overall, an excellent spot for a pint on a Saturday evening when all the pubs nearer the city centre were heaving and guarded by door staff.
