Has a good selection of real ales on handpull and is very handy for the adjoining Travelodge but lacks atmosphere and more of a stopping off point that a stay all night venue. Pity it's not more central.

Fairly large Wetherspoon's that is attached to a travelodge.Had a good selection of real ales on but lacks any atmosphere.

This is the larger of the 2 York Wetherspoons pubs,and is close to the city walls and Clifford's Tower.We usually call in when going racing for a study of form,breakfast and a couple of early snifters.Although there seems a lack of atmosphere,there is usually a good selection of real ales to choose from,and on Thursday had a couple of pints of The Ossett brewery's Big Red which went down a treat.

Not a bad Wetherspoons. Looked clean and tidy, service was prompt, there was ale choice available. Had York Blonde and Old Bear Curant and Raisin and they were both good clear beers and both went down well.
March 11 update.
Called in on Wednesday and it was very quiet. A few groups from the Travelodge next door were wheeling cases out as they had come in for breakfast but kitchen out of order for some reason. Wharfebank Carry Me Home and Mordue Workie Ticket went down well. Staff falling over themselves to serve, a very unusual occurance. I was still trying to choose the beers when I was asked what I wanted, and I have usually forgotten my choice by the time my turn comes round.

This is a largish modern Wetherspoons thats under a travel lodge,theres the usuall decent range of real ales i think its ok for a quick drink or something to eat.

As Wetherspoons go, this isn't a bad one. It doesn't have a great deal of character, but it does have a decent location/view next to the river Foss with plenty of ducks/swans etc around. Has a better selection of guest ales than many Wetherspoons, always a well kept pint and usually easy to get served. Had breakfast here once whilst staying at the Novotel (who wanted £14.95 for breakfast). Got served easily at about 10, but as we were leaving they were actually queuing through the bar for the one till that could take breakfast orders. It's not bad for a first/last one whilst staying in this part of York.
