This is a modern build JDW on a corner location with the name intended to celebrate the theatre and picture house legacy of this part of town. Apparently the Paramount was the original name of the adjoining Odeon. The large curved glazed frontage lets in welcome natural light which can be at a premium in Manchester. Write ups of the local defunct theatres on the walls, as well as Manchester famous names. There is a typical spoons gallery above the rear area but it was rather gloomy up there on Friday morning.
The pub served a good purpose for the usual Wetherbreakfast which was enjoyed with a livener pint of Moorhouses Blond Witch, breakfasts were flying out especially to throngs of orange clad construction workers. Quite a decent spoons.

A pretty decent Wetherspoons. Large open plan with an upstairs seating area. A good selection of cask ales on.

One of JDW's better offering, with a wide selection of beer and listed in the 2014 GBG. The clans were gathering for a certain local derby the Sunday morning we called, and it was busy at 11AM but the service was calm and efficient, and the breakfast up to scratch. JDW can do it if they try.

I liked this Spoons and I thought it was the best one out the three visited in Manchester today. I did like the layout and the large glass frontage, service was good and staff helpful. I went for Moorhouses Witches Brew - well that would sway my opinion.

Called in here last night. Sampled two excellent pints of the Paramount Porter by Elland Brewery. I also sampled an exquisite pint from Saltaire Raspberry Blond - was to die for! I utilized my CAMRA vouchers and got 50p off every pint!

The consistency of the quality of the ales is always bang on, certainly on my frequent visits. Okay it's not got the quirkiness of the nearby Waterhouse, but it is still a good place for a pint or 6!!

Modern, light Wetherspoons split into 2 areas plus a mezzanine. The front part has high stools and tables whilst there are lower chairs and tables at the rear, very much in a standard Wetherspoons split.

Perhaps appropriately considering the location, I got the feel of drinking in a cinima entrance.

For me its saved by good beer quality and notibly real ale choice.

You can do worse than this JDW example. On top of the usual offerings there's a fair range of beers (it's currently GBG listed), reasonably prompt service (in JDW terms), bogs clean and during the day a tolerable drunken old fool count.

As good as anywhere along this stretch.

This is one of the better Wetherspoons around the country. The manager likes to have different real ales on the bar and tries hard to keep these on tap at all times. Even though the place is heaving on a Saturday you can still get served relatively easily. It's a good pint as well. This pub is in the Good Beer Guide for 2009 & 2010.

Standard issue big, modern JDW with a good ale selection - two pints of Green Flash West Coast IPA went down a treat and were in excellent condition befitting a pub with a listing in the 2009 GBG. Would return but this is in no way up there with the best Manchester has to offer.
