4.5 years have passed and get this - the same two ales are on :-).

A good beer Guide 2022 tick. Snug room with a small bar. Notice board with the next two beers coming on (another Facers and a Vocation). Nice outdoor seating in the courtyard, overlooking the shops and courthouse.

Beer in very good condition.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Castle Court Hotel

Hotel located in a fine position directly opposite the splendid 13th-century castle. The bar also has a separate entrance, and this leads to several small opened-out areas refurbished in a light, semi-modern style. Two real ales on handpump: Facer's This Splendid Ale (£3.80) and Thornbridge Jaipur.

The former White Lion now looks very smart, belying the date of 1612 which has been picked out below a window (see photograph). Undoubtedly most of the building is much more modern. The bar is to the left and rear with its own entrance. The young man running it was enthusiastic and offered us tasters of the beers. As one of them was Tinothy Taylor landlord, we didn't see any necessity for a taster and went instead for the Flint Splendid Ale. This was ok but nothing special - or at least not as special as the name implied.

We quite liked it here for a quick half before dinner, but the unavoidable loud speakers with their musak, and the wide screen TV with its Sky Sports news, might have grated on a longer visit. Beer was slightly cheaper in here than the others we tried in Beaumaris, at £3 a pint.

Date of visit: 1st September 2015

The White Lion is situated in a good position on Castle Square, but thought the smart exterior flattered to deceive as the inside was slightly disappointing, with the decor dated and seemed to be tired looking with the plastered walls done in a drab looking colour.Half of the pub seems to be for residents only, and out of the two handpumps on the bar one had sold out and the other was coming soon. The barman was friendly enough and thought the fireplace was the best of the pubs internal features.

I held my birthday lunch party at the White Lion on 20 February 2010.

The food was the best in the area for miles and miles and miles.

My 23 guests were overwhelmed by the Five Star food and service provided by the delightful owners and their staff and even masterpiece of a birthday cake was produced.

The attentive and cheerful service made for an unforgettable day..

A nice white rendered exterior, with black paintwork and wood beam, with a beer patio

The place is a hotel, restuarant and bar and not one of these places that is as much a pub and just calls itself a hotel. As such, the bar that i saw was very small, heavily populated, very modern in decor and i didnt see anything i would want to drink - all seemingly to be keg stuff. Hence i turned and left. The chap behind the bar was perfectly friendly, just not my kind of place.
