Typical BCA pub with a good selection of beers on. The usual 3 house beers plus Teignmouth Portside, Tea, Sea Fury and Millstone Stout. I went for the Portside which was fine. All in all a decent pub.

A Black Country Ales pub with a plethora of hand pumps on the bar. There were two banks of four with BCA beers doubled, then another eight with five cask beers and three ciders. This is a large corner building - the room I was in seemed to be the only one open in the afternoon, and had booths along the side split up by glazed screens, with a large open space near the bar with high tables and chairs. Loud music was playing - I wonder if it gets busy on weekend evenings. My beer, Flipside Dusty Penny, a 5% porter, was fine (NBSS 3.5) - I wish I could say the same about the toilets. The gents are downstairs, and the stench came up to meet me as I opened the door to descend. Looking on the bright side, it's unlikely I'll ever be doing that again.

I hadn't been into the Court House for over 6 years. So I paid a return visit between Christmas and new year, wondering why it hasn't appeared in the Good Beer Guide since 2016. After my visit, I'm still wondering, as the selection of ales and ciders here remains the best in Dudley.

As a Black Country Ales pub, it regularly serves BFG, Pig on the Wall & Fireside. 7 guest beers were on for our visit. These were Coach House Christmas Stocking, Titanic Raspberry Pale, Backyard Kris Kringle, Three Tuns Solstice, Beartown Claws, Pennine Christmas Cranberry Stout & AJ's Stuck Up the Chimney.

In addition, there were 5 real ciders - Lilley's Apples & Pears, Gwynt y Ddraig Happy Daze & Sleigh Ride, Thistly Cross Whisky Cask & Weston's Rosie's Pig Raspberry & Cucumber. All beers and ciders are listed on TV screens, along with their style, ABV and price.

The interior is fairly characterless. If you've been to their flagship outlet, the Wellington in Birmingham, you'll know what to expect. Although, aside from the large main room, there is a small snug to the right of the entrance, which I've never managed to set foot in.

The real strength of the Court House is its ale and cider range. Hopefully I won't leave it another 6 years before visiting again.

A corker of a pub. 16 handpumps with 4 used for cider/perry. All pumps were in use today and all were different beers. Beers from Black Country, Beowulf, 4Ts, Mumbles, Hales, Grafton, North Yorkshire, Lymestone, Oakham and Golden Duck breweries today and ciders from Herefordshire,, Tygwyn and Lilleys. The pub is nicely decored and is a largish main room with a snug I didn't actually see. Though the pumps were all clipped there is a blackboard by the entrance telling you what's on. A pleasant, comfortable and extremely well stocked pub. For real ale its by far the best pub in the town. I loved it.

This former Hanson / Banks house is now a free house associated with the Black Country Brewery. The main bar is one large carpeted room. I completely failed to spot the snug bar.
There are sixteen pumps seven of which were unused and two taken by cider. Of the seven beers on two were from the Black Country brewery and the rest were all beers and breweries that were completely new to me. I went for the Mantle Brewery Black Heart (£3.15). I could see that this was from Wales as it had the word Bragdy on the clip which made it appropriate for St David's Day.
I subsequently discovered that it was brewed in Cardigan. This was the most expensive beer of the day but to be fair it wasn't in a Spoons and wasn't a locally brewed one. It was in very good nick. Given the Central location in Dudley this is one that shouldn't really be missed.

Enjoyed the beer festival in this 2011 Good Beer Guide pub. Also reasonably priced food available. The beef and mash in large Yorkshire pud was grand. The beers were high quality whether from stillage, the bar or from the cellar, and that showed how well they keep their beers here. The range on the bar is good when there is no festival on.

The above was in March 2011 and we visited again yesterday. Good choice of guest ales available as well as their Black Country Ales, and we chose Beer Geek Noble Geek and Wood Farm Flaming Glory. Not far to walk from the main shopping area in Dudley, and is in the 2012 Good Beer Guide.
The above was in August 2012 and not a lot changed on our visit Tuesday. It is still a great pub worthy of it's place in the 2014 Good Beer Guide. We stayed a while enjoying beers from the variety of styles available. We chose Fry's Strong Arms, Moorhouse Lap Prancer, Magpie JPA, and B & T Edwin Taylor Stout.

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Court House

A pleasant surprise to see they were having a beer festival on our visit. Apart from the festival ales on stillage they had a excellent choice of 11 ales on the bar plus 3 ciders. Mrs A enquired about a particular ale and it was no trouble for the manager to nip down the cellar and bring up a glass. Something I have not seen before, advertised on the bar, Grey peas with bacon and bread £1.70. A good pub and worthy of a return visit.

A mock tudor stone and brick corner pub, with dormer windows - it looks class.

The interior had two rooms a small side room, that i didn't really see and a longer bar and food area. The bogs look like they are in an old WWII basement air-raid shelter (and i dont mean that in a bad way). The decor is a creamy wallpaper, with the usual BCA posters for interest and there is a fine wood bar. There was a dart board - it looked brand new. The service is great - indeed, i played dart against the gaffer in the Lamp pub down the road later. The clientele were mature and it was reasonably busy. The music was quiet and rock based.

Beer; tap stuff, but a board with all the handpull beers on is easily visable. Along with the main three BCA beers, there were three ciders and around 9 other beers - the Bewdley Brewery's William Mucklow MILD and the Highgate MILD were decent, as was the Gateshead Gold from the Northumberland Brewery.

Class - what more can you say - perhaps absolute class.

A fine pub along similar lines to the Wellington in Bimingham or the Black Country Arms in Walsall. Dudley town centre needed a place like this. It is situated next to the police station, about 200 yards from the main bus station. It serves meals as well which meant that we abstained from the cheese and onion cobs that we had consumed everywhere else on our crawl.
