Brainy Pool left this review about The Empire

a quite nicely done little one roomed pub. but it’s lacking in any real character or decent beer - I tried the Coast To Coast craft fizz which disappointingly tasted of nothing. the handpumps have now gone. I can imagine it being a really sweaty place when it gets busy as it isn’t very big at all. I doubt I’ll ever be in here again.

Its not too bad a pub when it hasn't got karaoke/crap singer on. But sadly it has a lot of these on. There used to be a large collection of Beatles memorabilia dotted around but this has been scaled back and there is now a large collection of Merchant Navy ship pictures. 2 unused handpumps but these haven't been used for decades.

Nothing to inspire. Just t-bars with the usual suspects.

Old Boots left this review about The Empire

Oldish interior, style and customers. Lots of wainscotting and publike bench seats and tables. A mass of Beatles related photos cover the walls, although the Cavern Quarter is a fair way away; is that the sound of a band wagon creaking under the weight? There’s an interesting statue at one end of the single room plus a few photos of old Liverpool at the other. Usual boring range of kegs plus the more unusual Manns Chestnut but no cask ales. A few youngish scallies who had escaped from the nearby trashier places mingled with the oldies. Apart from the beer not much can be said for or against this place, just average.
