Steve of N21 left this review about The Saracens Head Inn

The Saracens Head is another historic Inn that blesses the Amersham Old Town. Unlike the others it is situated a short distance off the High Street on the quiet Whielden Street side road.
The building dates back to the 1530’s and several features in the traditional bar with its large exposed beams and large open log fireplace could well date back to that period. Unfortunately the Axminster carpet that has certainly seen some years and probably contains life forms that would have had David Bellamy salivating during his botanist years is sadly not one of them and is pure 70’s. But it didn’t detract too much from this being a very good traditional pub interior.
There is also a pleasant cobbled court yard and a secluded garden further to the rear and the pub functions as a 12 room B&B, and I believe what was originally stables around the courtyard section have been converted into rooms.
The bar has four real ales available, but unfortunately this is a GK tied house and the majority are the bland brews from Bury St Edmunds. But for my visit Wadworth 6X was also available alongside Greene King IPA Olde Tryp and OSH. This really would be a top pub with some local brewery beers, but still probably enough here to be worth the detour from the High Street.
