Another change of ownership and decor with various shades of grey splashed about. Same layout with seating to the right and a larger public bar straight ahead. Lots of toys to occupy the easily bored with machines, darts, a pool table and screens, one of which was on a music video channel - no doubt for the barmaid’s benefit rather than that of the middle aged plus clientele’s. Just the one beer, Hobgoblin Gold not a favourite but a reasonable pint; as they say better one in good condition rather than eight in mediocre (or worse!). Still has its beer garden adjacent to the canal.

A change of ownership has refreshed the pub and the beer range. Decor has been updated and more interesting beers are featured, Abbeydale and White Rat along with the new better tasting Black Sheep bitter.

Great friendly pub with charismatic landlord and landlady. Music friendly with great live acts and fab old fashioned rock n roll mixes from the resident team nightly. Huge food portions at great value with the Sunday bin lid a must, finish it if you dare! Was there on holiday for a weekend and had a really lovely welcoming time. Good mix of local residents and holidaymakers, set in a beautiful spot right on the river, just the chillout I needed. Oh yeh and girls, the talent is not bad either!

Self styled community pub close to the Ripon canal, it certainly seems to have a good local following of people of all ages from the area of Langthorpe and Milby just over the river from Boroughbridge. The bar is an L shaped one with a pool table and seating in the shorter front section, while through an archway is the barcounter and a room with bench seating and a high table with chairs although not quite in the usual style. It's a pleasant enough room decorated with some prints and a model of Tweety Pie and Sylvester, dark wood and stained glass dividers round the dart board and a door with an interesting stained glass window leading out to the garden. There is also a profusion of audio-visual devices. Beerwise there are four handpumps, a solo one of which looks unused, the others serving Landlord, Black Sheep Bitter and John Smiths Cask in very reasonable condition, there are also a few founts of the well known kegs Strongbow, Guiness, JS Smooth, Fosters and 1664 as usual.
