An old school mid-90’s JDW in an attractive building, just down the road from the Solomon. Named after the ‘figure of eight’ that the canal network formed around Birmingham. Large and dark inside, with Wetherspoons interior catalogue ‘period bookshelves’ and raised booth seating to right, with the bar running down the left. There’s a large and nicely done patio to the rear. Clean and tidy all round. Noticeably friendly staff and punters and good interaction between the two, though I suppose the quarter past midday atmosphere may be somewhat different than that of quarter past nine in the evening. There was an impressive ale selection and my Adnams Smoked Ruby was in good form. I quite liked it here as far as Spoons go.

Popped in Sat morn after my visit to the Brum Beer Fest the night before. The place was busy a lot of people in for something to eat, including myself. Thought the steak and Abbott Ale pie was very good and the Woodfordes Ketts Rebellion washed it down quite nicely. So no complaints JDW.

Ok large open plan Wetherspoons on the trendy Broad Street strip.

Nothing spectacular inside, but its comfortable enough, there is a step up to the area at the back that includes booth seating.

Beer range not as good as other Wetherspoons, but there was advertisement for mini local beer festivals.

Overall, probably a slightly above average Wetherspoons place

Poorer JDW of two on Broad Street. Rather dark and its service can be bit frustating at times. Otherwise drinks seems in top nick at all times. Smokers can smoke in back garden. Bookcases on back of the room. Quite plenty of spaces which is bonus for wheelchair users to move around. Just avoid it on Weekend nights as Broad Street is very famous for huge number of pubs scattered along the road.

Large JDW that can be really busy due to its location. I've been in here loads of times and usually the beer and clientele are OK. Called in last Wednesday for the first time in a while and nothing had changed really. The guest beers are on the middle bank of handpumps not those that face you as you enter. I had a pint of Sadlers Stumbling Badger and a Milestone Maid Marion, both were good. Apart from that, well it's a fairly standard JDW.

Large, typical Weatherspoons house on the very popular Broad St. Does get very crowded. Service is poor, food & drink Weatherspoons average. Parking is available but you'll have to look for it.
