Dating from the mid-19th century, this is the closest pub to the Emirates stadium, now that the Drayton Park Hotel has closed.
It’s no surprise that ‘the Tolly’ as it’s known, has a massive Arsenal following, totally mixed customers, many wearing team colours, avidly following Chelsea’s progress against Lille, doubtless with little affection, on more TVs than you can shake a stick at, the commentary near deafening. The whole pub has been completely modernised; I didn’t sport anything remaining from the original: the floor is pale wood, as is the furniture, which includes benches; it’s a very woody pub indeed, much of which can be seen on the pub’s website gallery. There’s burgundy wainscoting to the dado, then white walls and white ceiling, with modern recessed downlighters. Thai food is served from an open kitchen and one element of note is that the pub has the most expansive trough urinals I’ve ever seen, so I imagine a lot of liquid is consumed here when the Gooners are playing, especially at home.
Ales amounted to just GK IPA and Abbot, so a half of Guinness it was at £2.50 and fine, served by a friendly barman.
This is very much a community pub, with a friendly atmosphere generated by a crowd drawn together by a common interest: a love of stripped pine. However, it’s a bit clinical for me, requiring a fair bit of titivation in the ale department.

The Tolloington Arms is a fairly large and smart looking pub that is on the corner of Tollington Road and Hornsey Road.
Once inside there is a decent sized oblong shaped room which is bare boarded, all of the seating is made from wood,so there is wood bench seating with wood chairs and wood small stools,it all looked too samey for my liking and also uncomfortable to sit on.
The pub is a Greene King tied house, there were two of their real ales on the bar,i had a drink of GK IPA,which was decent enough, the other real ale was GK Abbot.
The TVs were showing sky sports football updates.
The pub was quite busy on my Saturday afternoon visit.
This is a pleasant pub to have a drink in.

I found the staff in here to be very friendly and the other punters seemed harmless enough; I just thought that the décor was a little too clinical and with the woman walking around serving the Thai food the pub ambience that we all love was lost a little.

The pub has Sky Sports and there are four plasma screens dotted about so that you can see one from every part of the pub. There is a lot of seating around the outsides of the pub, but the main road running past is very busy and loud.

Greene King IPA and Abbot were available during my visit alongside standard and premium draught products. I had a very nice pint of Guinness whilst I looked through the Thai menu which I thought was a tad expensive, although I've not eaten Thai in a pub for about three years so I could be out of touch with modern pricing.

Even taking into account the nature of this pub I still liked it and would go back again.
