There was one standard handpump that was unused, a new shiny metallic Young's Bitter pump also unused - even the John Smith's was off leaving me to have a half of Carling at £2 (!!) for a half. There didn't seem to be any food available when I was in during a weekday aftrnoon, but I guess it's probably available at other times going by previous postings.

The pub looks mightily impressive from the outside, but I found the interior quite unimpressive. Seating seems to be black plastic upholstered benches and chairs; the pool table is still there at the back as is the DJ area. The only other people in there were a couple of young men speaking a foreign language, and some awful rap music from MTV was coming out of the TV. Perhaps if I had visited the beautiful shisha garden, or visited at another time, I would have been more impressed, but it would have to take something mightily impressive to offset the cheek of charging £2 for a half of Carling. I'm afraid that this one did not do it for me.

A friendly pub, with a beautiful shisha garden, welcoming owners and a delicious menu. I recommend to everyone!

My only visit (made about a year ago) revealed a very elegant pub (formerly the Castle) overlooking Clissold Park.

A pool room was available to the side (with a dodgy crowd) but the pub seemed dedicated to some sort of South American dancing. Not my thing and what a pity this venue is thus wasted.

There are a few picnic tables outside the front of this pub and a climb up a few steps will find some more covered seating and the entrance to the bar area. It doesn’t seem like the biggest place, but to the right of the bar that is stocked with the usual draught suspects is an area that houses a pool table. There is a projector screen that was showing one Premiership match and a plasma screen was showing another. At the rear of the pub there is a small DJ booth that I imagine gets used at the weekends and there is a Slush Puppy machine on the bar for making different cocktails. Food is served and a strong smell of flame on meat was wafting through the pub and I later found out it was some spicy lamb kofta. I had a suspicion whilst I was supping on my well served Guinness that all was not as it seems so I decided to pop out the back for a sneaky fag and I discovered the beer garden that is done up like a Saracen’s tent with low tables and stools all covered in red and black material and sheltered with more sheeting. I spotted a couple of Hookahs and the shisha was available in many flavours for £10 a pop, I’m not sure if this is expensive or not. There are another couple of plasma screens that were showing a music video channel.

This place is a little different and it works well meaning that I would have no problem returning.
