Well worth a visit to this very well run establishment. We sat in the bar side, which was handy as we were both enjoying the beer in here. The right hand side goes a lot further back than you'd imagine. There was also a small side room off this area. The right hand side led you onto a conservatory and patio area at the back. Ten handpumps all in use on our visit, we went for the Lancaster Blonde, Amber Ale and Dark Star Festival, one was as good as the other. Opens at 10am.

A Christmas re-visit found the place stupidly busy as per usual during the festive season. A good range of ales were available alongside the Lancaster Brewey staples. My Backyard Brwery Winter Ale tasted good and came in the handled mug again. I do like this place but it's best avoided at peak times.

A really nice contemporary bar set in a 17th century building - bare stonewalls and artwork all round, with multiple drinking areas leading off the main front room. Usually eight good-quality ales available (with Lancaster Brewery taking at least four of the slots) alongside several continental lagers, numerous bottled beers and a decent wine list. Ale is served in a handled mug, which is a nice touch, though prices a are a little higher than the Lancaster norm. Clientele are a mix of students, with a smattering of middle-aged trendy groups in the front bar.

Well worth a visit and a must if crawling the city.

We spent an enjoyable night here. On offer was Jenning's Bitter, Wainwrights, Thwaites, and a selection of Lancaster beers, my favourite being the Amber. The bar area's were a pleasant combination of old and new and the staff very helpful. The Standard Double room was very comfortable and excellent value for the money. Breakfast on the Sunday morning was very leisurely and included Duck rather than Hens eggs. The only down side was that the secure car park which is only a minutes walk away took ten minutes to drive to through Lancaster's busy multilane one way system.
