A village pub with several rooms but rather orientated toward food, all very clean and clinical inside, I didn't find it very homely.Three pumps with a choice of two,Hogs Back Tea and Itchen Valley Hampshire Rose, the later being in a rather tired state.
I didn't particularly warm to this pub, granted my visit was at a quiet time though.

Higgledy piggledy place, small tight and multi area'd. A modern internal makeover; slate flooring, exposed brickwork, candles, cushions etc. Very nice garden that sadly on a cold and blustery February evening was not fully appreciable. Rugby on the TV. Friendly punters in situ with their damp dogs. Three pumps with two on; Hogs Back TEA (good), Bowman Swift (good), with a Triple fff clip turned. Not bad.

Very pleasant village pub a bit off the beaten track. It's a two bar affair, smaller inside than you'd expect. The lounge bar is nothing of the sort, it's very much a restaurant, all tables laid up and if you just want a drink you'll most likely get sent next door. Which is fine, very much the traditional country pub public bar. It's been knocked through in its time and brickwork exposed but nothing too out of keeping. Open fires, darts, pool, all good stuff. There's a lovely garden to one side and a smokers' den out the back. The beer is good, it's in the GBG, Alton fff and Hogsback amongst a decent selection.

Open all day and well worth a visit .

Decided to stop off here on our way down to Southampton for a few days. Took the decision based on other web site reviews and the main aim was a decent pint and decent pub food for a lunchtime.
Cannot say I was disappointed. The Ringwood's was very drinkable and our party had a mixture of sandwiched, baguettes and main meals from the specials board, all of which were very good.
So if your aim is for a decent pint and decent pub food for a lunchtime, cant fault the Royal Oak in that respect.
