This 2018 Good Beer Guide pub is a very friendly very popular pub on the banks of the river Severn. From Easter there is a foot ferry operating from the Tewkesbury side across to the pub. There are caravans here and despite the weather, there was a crowd in tents enjoying a birthday party, and along with the bikers there was a lovely friendly atmosphere in the pub. Seating outside and plenty of grassy areas down to the river. Good beer choice and we enjoyed Great Western Flyin' Try and Donnington On The Nose

Old Boots left this review about Lower Lode Inn

A 15th century brick built pub near the confluence of the Rivers Severn and Avon with views across the river to Tewkesbury abbey. There is an associated carvan park near by but the pub doesn't feel anything like a caravan park social, quite the opposite it's atmospheric and worth the circuitous drive to reach, the ferry from the Tewkesbury side only operates from Easter to September. It has stone floors, exposed brick walls and wandering Bassett hounds, the main bar is decorated with the usual old photos of the area and some canal art. It's furnished with traditional larger dining tables and chairs with limited bench seating in the main bar, there is a restaurant and function room extension to one end and a games room with a pool table at the back. The four hand pumps were serving Doombar, which GBG says is their regular ale plus two Donnington beers and a guest "Coenwulf" from Three Shires. Very close to the river and a plaque on the front door shows the water level of the 2007 flood.

A lovely traditional pub overlooking the Severn.
Inside the trad theme continues with stone floors, cushioned wood settles and a well thought out wood and brick bar. It's comfortable and cosy even in the summer when the fires aren't lit.
Four handpumps had Goffs 1471, Doom Bar, Northumberland Jolly Rogers and Great Western The Bessknees. The latter was especially good and slipped down very easily.
There's a seating area outside for watching the river on pleasant days and a small foot passenger ferry to get to the Tewkesbury side.
A lovely boozer in which to enjoy decent beer and pleasant views.

Bucking Fastard left this review about Lower Lode Inn

This pub gets regularly flooded by The River Severn which runs at the foot of their garden,so the interior has a sensible stone floor and basic furniture both sides of a modest central bar. There are fine views of the majestic river and a small foot passenger ferry operates to the bank on the far side for those walking to Tewksbury or arrive by car to that side.Ring the bell to attract attention, there is a charge and in the summer the ferry operates until 9pm.
I enjoyed my lunchtime pints in here and there is good value pub grub, meat sourced locally and a friendly welcome from behind the bar.Deserves its 2011 GBG listing, rooms are also available and there is a camp site nearby.Great location.

I took my partner here for a quiet weekend away. We were welcomed by Sam & her staff who made us feel not only very welcome, but part of the family. The food is all localy sourced. The vast amount of real ales ensured we had to stay an extra night. Hotel rooms were clean & neat. Great food, great beer & an atmosphere I wish my local had. Top marks & we'll see you again real soon.
