Found this to be a really friendly pub. Good traditional style pub and the drinks were fine.

Traditional pub with pleasant beer garden. Unfortunately the home brewed beer made on the premises is disgusting, completely undrinkable! Would not visit again.

I wasn't expecting anything this good in Glossop! From the outside, it looks quite an ordinary pub, one of many lining the A57 as it grinds its way through this ancient Pennine market town. In fact, I almost just took my photo and moved on. What stopped me was the pub sign: Globe Brewery, it said. Well, I'd never heard of a Globe Brewery, so I stepped inside.

It's a much bigger pub than the outside suggests, and that's not just because there are mirrors on most of the walls. There are several different rooms, and there's even quite a decent garden out the back. The smoking area has two huge tarpaulins stretched strategically to cover the courtyard and drain what I imagine would be copious amounts of rainwater into the gutters.

The bar is in two sections, a small corner affair in the room into which you step from the street, and a larger straight section in the room on the far right. A smaller room straight ahead has a fireplace and a piano.

Next surprise: six real ales, all products of the Globe Brewery: Wheat beer, Amber, Rich Porter, Vulcan (with Leonard Nimoy on the pump clip), Blondie and Comet. Final surprise: all the beers were priced between £1.80 and £2.00! I had the porter, which was just as it said on the tin: rich and complex.

There were also two ciders and a perry available, at similarly old fashioned prices. There was food available, though I didn't indulge, and a poster or two promised an appearance by the Manc Floyd, though I'm not sure which room they would be setting up in.

Altogether, a great pub experience, and only missed out on my very first 10 by having the radio playing just that little bit too loud. I'll definitely be coming back here!

Returned here on a recent Tuesday to discover that unfortunately the pub is closed on Tuesdays! Opens at 5pm other weekdays.

The Globe is a decent looking stone built pub.
When i visited this pub it had Jennings signs outside which pleased me as i hav'nt been in many Jennings pubs, once inside the pub was very smart and comfortable but when i got to the bar there were no real ales on,when i asked the landlord why he said Jennings had sold the pub and he was leaving that week,i had a drink of John Smiths smooth crap which was crap.
I was very dissapointed about this pub.
