Will Larter left this review about Gosforth Hall Inn

This charming old listed building has taken on a new lease of life as a surprising pub on the outskirts of Gosforth. Set back from the road, it is easy to miss on the way towards Wasdale. There's a patio-style beer garden in front, and the public bar is through a doorway into what may have been a kitchen in the former farmhouse. At the time of my visit the staff were coping brilliantly with the arrival of a minibus pub crawl - "five pints of Fever Pitch please" - and I was served quite quickly, possibly helped by the fact that one of the servers remembered having seen me in a supermarket in Whitehaven a few hours previously. (Who said there's no advantage in wearing lycra cycling shorts?)

There are four hand pumps with all local beers on - not unreasonably priced for the area and for a food-led pub at just £3.20 a pint. Though a little cold, the beers I had were in good condition and it was pleasant to sit in the garden to drink them. This is one to return to if given the chance.
