A run-of-the-mill JDW laid out as described by Aqualung, below. The building is one of Bridgwater's more attractive edifices, but it is marred by the mountain of litter and chewing gum in the small garden at the back and the filthy state of the front entrance area. The area seems to have more than its fair share of lowlifes as well. The staff were reasonably efficient, while the general feel of griminess put us off eating. The beer was not spectacular – many pumps were off, leaving a choice of Ruddles, Doombar, Abbott, and Osprey Choccamocha from Cotleigh, and the beers were not that well kept. There were 3 boxed ciders behind the bar. This is Bridgwater's only GBG pub, which doesn't bode well for the rest.

This pub is spread over two completely different buildings. The right one has a mock tudor frontage and the left one is a three storey building that looks residential. It would seem that only the ground floor of the left building is used.
The bar area is in the mock Tudor building and is long and narrow with the room in the other building for dining on the left. There was a sign on the entrance saying under 18s were not allowed in here.
Although this is GBG 2016 listed and there were two banks of five hand pumps the beer selection was rubbish. The JDW Trio Of Doom was doubled up, there were two International beers from Everard's and Hook Norton, the pathetic Royal commemorative One Is 90 and Adnam's Broadside. I looked to the boxes of ciders in the fridge and went for one called Joe's Dry Cider (£2.49). This went down a treat with a breakfast.
It was only the poor beer choice that let this place down but I have to mark it down for that.

A large Wetherspoons outlet, better run
than some of the ones I have visited.
