Built around 1897 as the Tower Bridge Hotel, this pub was in effect created to be the southern gateway to the newly constructed Tower Bridge and has been a ‘spoons with this name since acquisition in 1998.
As described below, none of what must once have been a fantastic interior remains; what’s left can be seen on the website’s gallery. Customers are predictable, with plenty of middle-aged fizzed-up squealers.
Ales: Ruddles Best, Doom, Abbot, Terrapin Jazz and Naked Ladies at £1.65 and nice.
There isn’t much in the immediate area; the Anchor Tap is primarily of curiosity value, the Tower Bridge Arms serving up ale to a low standard at rip-off prices.

Corner pub with quite a quirkily shaped interior. It’s a by the numbers spoons.

We took the corner entrance on our arrival and walked through a corner lounge, which was set out with mainly low tables and chairs. From this lounge you then are led into the bar and lounge at the rear, with the counter running along the back wall. The counter was finished in dark timber, with a black granite counter top, plus a roof light above, the seating arrangement in this section was high tables and chairs. After here there was another front lounge with booths, along with another street entrance. Quite busy on our early Friday eve visit, we only stayed for one drink as a group of middle aged woman drinking shots, was more than my ears could bear. Beer wise we went for the Truman's Bow Bells, which was in good shape and set us back £3.45 a pint.

Very impressive building a stone's throw from Tower Bridge. A fairly standard Spoons inside with at least 4 ales on. The IPA I tried was in good shape.
I would happily call again.

As intimated by others, this is a bogstandard 'spoons, although it's house in a maginificent old pub/hotel. There are two separate, but of course inter-connected, rooms. The one on the corner in which we sat had walls and ceilings painted maroon, but it was light enough due to the tall windows on two of the sides.

I didn't make a note of all the ales, but they did have a couple from the local Southwark Brewery. The usual 'spoons menu is available, with the marker meal of the traditional breakfast weighing in at £3.75. This is good value of course, but a bit more expensive than most 'spoons into which I venture. It's typical 'spoons - cheap food, cheap beer, and the usual mix of furnishings crammed in. It's OK for what it is - a standard 'spoons.

Rather disappointing visit here, a bog standard spoons with two banks of six pumps, the six usual suspects were all on but on the (supposedly more interesting six only three were available with the remainder "coming soon" I didn't recognise two of the guests and failed to note them ,only Twickenham Sundancer was known to me and I don't think that's the best in world so left without a drink.

Unimpressive Wetherspoon pub in an area rammed with tourists.Like the previous reviewers I think this needs to be smartened up.Loads of handpumps and 2 Raving Loony Monster Party beers on brewed at Ascot brewery

Formerly the Tower Bridge Hotel and it’s a beautiful building to look at, though sadly the interior is a low-grade bodgy Spoons-by-numbers place. Inverse U-shape with the bar at the end and some old-style Spoons booths on the left side. Tasteless dark green walls and deep red ceiling with white trim in this area, with dark red walls on the right side. Large windows at the front for people-watching. Better at the bar - 12 pumps with all bar one operational and seemingly (at glance) no duplicates. My Twickenham Naked Ladies was in good form. Better than usual service as well. Like a reviewer below, I also ended up in the broom cupboard en route to the gents. Handy as an ale stop-off but I think Tim needs to aim a bit higher here, seems like a waste of what could be a grand interior.

This was originally the Tower Bridge Hotel, so it's quite an achievement for Wetherspoons to make it look like another shop conversion. It was busy at around 19:00 on a Saturday. It is situated in a sort of no man's land between the tourist hordes at the Tower of London, the City suits and grotty Bermondsey, which is reflected in the prices.
Of the twelve pumps two were unused, three were Available Soon (one was Doombar to my great relief), two had cider and the rest were Ringwood Fortyniner, Abbot, Three Castles Autumn Daze, Everard's Cambridge Belgian IPA and London Pride. I went for the Belgian IPA at £2.99 which is slightly cheaper than other Central London Spoons but a fair bit dearer than most suburban ones. The beer quality was excellent.
I wasn't that taken with this one, but in general I've found nearly all of the Central London Spoons to be a disappointment.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Pommelers Rest (JD Wetherspoon)

Standard-issue Wetherspoons. Usual mix of a few interesting beers from the 12 handpumps (although there always seem to be an annoying number 'available soon') and a selection of dubious-looking customers. Various seating areas in the two main rooms. Real ales such as Itchen Pure Gold keenly priced at £2.50.
