Rex Rattus left this review about The Compass

This pub has now re-opened as The Compass. It’s now furnished with sofas and chunky furniture and looks very clean and tidy, but not like the Three Compasses it once was, but considerably better than the short-lived Deal Porter that it was until recently. Outside it’s now painted a dull combination of black and battleship grey, and inside much of the woodwork and walls are painted that dull grey/green colour we see so often in madeover pubs (it probably has a name but I don’t know what it is). A chalkboard outside says that it opens daily at 5.30 PM, but I looked through the window and saw three handpumps on the bar – for Pedigree, Hobgoblin and Ringwood Best Bitter. Now that is a mega improvement on its brief incarnation as The Deal Porter, when it did not do any real ale. Another small sign outside declares its dress code – no sportswear, site clothes, or headwear. A bit upmarket it would seem.

Rex Rattus left this review about The Deal Porter

This pub has been The Deal Porter at least since September 2008 when I last poked my nose in to see what it was like. It looked to be more of a restaurant than a pub to me, and it certainly didn't do any real ale. When I walked past on 1 Mar 10 it was closed. There was work going on inside so it might just be a refurb, but the Deal Porter signage has been removed from the exterior, and it is relatively soon after the refurb that changed it to the Deal Porter. Time will tell.

Large one-roomed "Fizz" pub with kids jumping all over the place. attached to and part of the pub ( would have been the whole pub at one time) was an Indian Restaurant. definately no real ales to be seen here the barmaid didn't even know what i was talking about she had to ask a customer, lucky for us he told us there was pub further down the road(it turned out to be a very nice Fuller's)
