Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Kings Arms Hotel

One of the historic pubs / hotels overlooking the village green, with the benches out front having fine views across Swaledale beyond. This one still offers accommodation but is definitely a pub, though. Partly opened-out at some stage to leave the main L-shaped bar / dining area, with a small lounge zone and huge fireplace on the other side of the entrance and another dining room behind that. With two of the three handpumps in use, I found Doom Bar and Wainwright (£3.90) being poured (and a reversed Theakston Best clip on the other).

Old Boots left this review about The Kings Arms Hotel

An opened out old pub generally thought to be in third place of the three pubs in Reeth as far as beer is concerned. It does have the usual plastered white walls although strangely without old photos of t'dale. It's got a nice carpet, open fires, some fake ceiling beams and traditional Yorkshire service. There is a central counter with six hand pulls but only 3 in use it being March,a mundane choice with Wainwright plus the Theakstons seasonal for March and a decidedly average Black Bull Bitter. The food wasn't bad and I guess it functions well as somewhere for tourists to spend their money as with much of Reeth.

Winner of best fire in the dales - a proper inglenook inferno.

Theaskston Ales and a jukebox deliverying 50's sounds.

An impressive building, with a bit of old fashioned quality about it, though looking a little run down. The present landlord is from the north east, to judge by his strong accent, and was friendly enough. However, I am not sure how much he knows about keeping real ales. There were six beers among nine hand pumps at the time of our off-season midweek visit. All were from Theakstons except Thwaites Wainwright, and the two we tried were cloudy and tasted rather old. As well as Old Peculier and Infallible, there were Lightfoot, Black Bull and Best Bitter, three almost indistinguishable and bland pale beers - very similar to Thwaites Wainwright. Serving this large a range at this time of year is asking for trouble, it seems to me, and a more sensible offering would have been just one or at most two of those pale beers together with the two darker ones.

I assume things have changed here since September 2008. We had a few pints and an evening meal here, as well as staying the night, in August 2010, and everything was fine, although not outstanding.

Roger Button left this review about Kings Arms Hotel

The Kings Arms Hotel is prominently situated in the heart of this popular Dales village The exterior bears the Coat of Arms of King George II who was the reigning Monarch when the pub was built in 1734.

The interior consists of an L-shaped main bar with beamed ceilings and a wonderful inglenook fireplace dominating one end. To the rear and quite tucked away is a separate dining area although this was in darkness, presumably reflecting the reduced custom seen in the winter months. There was a well positioned dart board and the décor also included several localised landscapes (many for sale). Outside are a few benches overlook the Market Place and across to the hills beyond although the parked cars drag the vista down a tad.

The ambience was quite civilized and despite being predominatly a Hotel, it didn’t have the sterile feel that Hotel bars generally carry although the bland but unobtrusive background music didn’t do a great deal for me. The pub would appeal to a wide range of people from casual tourists to local villagers looking for a few hours of relatively peaceful drinking although I can only speak for off peak season. One couple we spoke to stay here every year and couldn’t praise the pl;ace high enough. The landlord was certainly very amiable and service for both food and drink was very efficient and attentive.

There were 5 ales spread over 9 hand pumps with a decent if rather standard selection of consisting of 2 Theakstons (Old Peculiar & Best), Caledonian Deuchars, Youngs Winter Warmer and (naturally) Black Sheep Best. Prices were slightly higher than the other pubs in town but not unrealistic. The food was very good and prices also comparable to other pubs in the area.

All in all, the Kings Arms is a decent enough pub with a pleasant atmosphere and a fairly safe choice to spend a few hours or have an informal meal.

Honestly, If this were the only Hotel and Bar in the village I would still not go there. The owners are the rudest couple I have ever met in my life. Open arguements infront of guests, shouting at staff and swearing infront of customers. Food average to say he's a 'chef', Beer terrible, I'm sure they have no idea how to run a bar. This used to be the best bar in Reeth, now it's by far the worse. This couple of outsiders have ruined it. Try the Black Bull or the Buck, both run by locals and frequented by them too!!!
