An unexceptional locals' pub, tarted up a bit but still retaining some character. L-shaped, with the long side having some eating tables, booths and a couple of sofas, while the front part has barrels with stools and a dartboard. There is an interesting stained glass panel suspended from the ceiling. A couple of sport TVs are not too intrusive, at least with no match on, while the music is a bit too loud. Just Pedigree on handpump, but in good form and cheap.

Opened out pub but it retains some hints of what was a double fronted two bar pub with a central entrance corridor. The former two rooms are now separated spaces with a counter in each, the left hand one has a trio of pulls at the far end, none in use but Pedigree and maybe 61 Deep on two with reversed clips. It’s two low T-bars of nasty kegs in each bar otherwise. The left hand room is more basic, with mostly vertical drinking, a few tall stools at old casks in the window, no carpet or pictures, just a big screen. There’s a machine in the old corridor and the right hand bar has better, lower furniture, a carpet and pictures. Not overwhelmed by the quality of this one.

L shaped Marston's pub on the main road into York. Looking a bit shabbier now as it probably hasn't been touched since the 2015 review below. A few TVs around the place showing live football on our Sunday afternoon visit. A decent number of punters in, mainly watching the football. 3 handpumps, but only Pedigree available and even that was only so so. We were staying just across the road and this was our first port of call, we didn't bother again. We're often in York and I can't see us visiting this one on any future visit, there's just too much competition.

A nicely furnished pub with a mix of old and new decor. this pub was slightly too modern for my liking mainly due to the dimly lit lights and music playing but neither were that bad im just picky. there are two sets of three hand pumps that repeat the same beers. on my visit there was black sheep special, as well as a black ipa and a golden ale i cant remember the names of all priced at a very reasonable £2.50.
This is a pleasant enough place to stop for a drink and is probably the pick of the pubs this side of blossom street/the mount.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Mount

Marston's pub featuring a partly opened-out layout but retaining two separate bar counters in an overall 'L' shape. Semi-modern furniture and decor. Live music on when I called in on a Friday evening. Burton Bitter, Pedigree and New World available from the three handpumps.

Visited the pub a couple of times, The bar staff are quite pleasant and friendly and the prices are cheap. Most of the regulars are friendly enough.

Located on the main road from the train station to the racecourse. 3 real ale taps ( 1 on during my visit). The pub has a dartboard.

Called in as part of a pub crawl route the other day. Only two beers on hand pumps, one was Marstons Burton Bitter, the other Wychwood Hobgoblin. The Marstons was off, however, and we didn't fancy the Hobgoblin so gave this one a miss.

This pub is'nt that far from the train station it was quite smart inside and there was only one real ale on the bar which was John Smiths cask.
I thought this pub was a bit dissapointing.
