Ventured in last night when I had a bit of time to kill before my train, and noticed there was a sign up saying they would no longer be taking payment by cash from 1 May 2019. Just to warn those who don't always carry a card with them!

Visited again on Saturday before catching my train home after doing a few pubs. Curiosity got he better of me and I asked the chap behind the bar if there had been a change of management - apparently not, they've just decided to make some changes. I did notice on this visit that there are chalk boards high up listing what is on the keg taps. Also some of the keg taps have a pump clip above them so you get an idea of what is on. At least the hand pulls for the cask selection are still at the front of the bar where you can see them!

Visited last Friday afternoon. 8 hand pumps at the bar, with one of those off. Had a half of Northern Night by Wander Beyond at £1.90 or £1.95.

I noticed that all the old style keg pumps have gone from the front of the bar and there now appears to be a line of keg taps on the back of the bar. Seemed to be completely unlabelled but presumably there was a chalk board or menu somewhere listing what was available. There also appears some new signage externally and door used for entry has been changed too, so I am wondering if there has been a change of management.

I stayed for a second drink - this time Ekuanot by Dan's Brewery. I've never had a beer from Dan's that disappointed and this was no exception.

Very handy for Deansgate station.

Sunday night and they may have had a busy weekend. Out of 8 handpulls, only three were on. One was a stout, one was Dans Brewery Pale Ale and one had three lines of text and was undecipherable. I asked the barman. He could neither explain or offer a taste.

Trendy City Centre pub and I could see little (apart from a good collection of bottle beers) to warrant its inclusion in the 2018 Good Pub Guide.

Modern pub built underneath the railway bridge. There’s a high ceilinged open main bar with spur seating to the right and a further area off left, with a small upper balcony area also available. Plenty of cask (8 pumps with 6 on) including Electric Bear Milk Stout and the in-house Dan's brewery. The three cask ales we tried were in fair shape but all too warm and pump tired. An impressive selection of craft keg on, including a lovely Hawkshead Imperial Stout. Very helpful barman who pointed out the haziness of one of the beers before dispense and tasters were freely offered. Also an extensive collection of bottled beers with table menus including a simple style guide. We ate here and enjoyed the food, though it took a fair while to appear despite there being only one other discernible order that had gone in. I did enjoy it here but the cask quality really wasn’t GBG worthy, which lets the side down somewhat - could have been the best pub on my Manc crawl, but wasn't.

Have been coming in here for years and it never seems to change. Excellent selection of ales and probably in my top five central Manchester pubs.

An excellent selection of cask ales with 8 handpumps all serving different beers. Overlooks that glass tower monstrosity that dominates the other hideous new builds in the city.

We got a good friendly welcome when visiting here and the barman was very knowledgeable. I liked the layout of the pub and the upstairs balcony was an added bonus. There were eight handpumps in operation. I went for the Black Jack Brewery First Deal and Pictish Solstice, both were top notch.

Still excelling. It was even sunny yesterday and we sat out on the sun deck whilst trying a couple of Pictish beers Alchemists Ale & Saaz. THe other half had one of her favourite beers Castle Rock Harvest Pale. All were excellent.

Called in last night, it was excellent as always. Had a Pictish Apollo & an Abbeydale Winter. The other half had Marble Manchester Bitter. All were in top class condition. Always call in here when in the Castlefield area. It's an unmissable pub.

The best bar in Castlefield by some way and there's a few OK places around Castlefield. It's built under the railway arches so there's quite a bit of train rumbling goes on above. It's stone floored and the walls are covered with beer posters etc. There's an eclectic selection of seating ranging from armchairs to dining chairs. It's got a great jukebox as well and there's an upstairs open area for those sunny days. There are 6 handpumps usually selling a couple of Marble beers and often one from Phoenix & Pictish along with a couple of ever changing guests. They also sell a couple of Belgian draughts and there's a decent selection of bottles. On Friday I had a pint of Nutty Slack from Prospect Brewery which was very good as usual. They do some decent food ranging from burgers to veggie wraps to sharers and full meals. They also have theme nights when the chef specialises in one country's cuisine. We often have a bowl of spicy wedges with dips just to take the edge off, they're hot!! All in all it's a class place and shouldn't be missed when in this part of Manchester.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Knott

Award-winning real ale bar, partially built under a railway arch and having a modern frontage but incorporating a more traditional building at the rear. It is quite dark inside, away from the front windows, with a range of furniture (including some fairly rustic tables and chairs towards the back). Not all of the eight handpumps were working, but there was Ginger Marble, a couple of Dark Star offerings, the curious Boggart Rum Porter (£3.05) and Landlord for the less adventurous. Well worh seeking out.
