A Marston’s estate pub. It consists of a single large bar with a raised area in the centre, creating the illusion of privacy in some parts. It has no garden and shares its car park with other neighbouring businesses. It was characterised by hoards of young children running free, making a lot of noise and being served with sweets and soft drinks at the bar. Tit has gaming machines, a pool table and multiple TV screens. There was an odour of stale smoke throughout the interior, and the locals were no the friendliest bunch. The barmaid was efficient but not welcoming. Only one ale on, Pedigree, which was in poor condition. The keg choices were Thatcher’s Haze and Gold, Carlsberg, Guinness, Marton’s smooth, Fosters, Moretti, Cruzcampo and Inch’s Cider. Leave this one to the locals.

Kenny Baldwick left this review about The Observatory

I reluctantly revisited The Observatory with a party of friends after about three or four years since my last visit. To be honest, I was suprised by the changes to the pub, gone are the loutish group of 'locals' that I remembered from previous visits to the pub. New owners are in place and they appear to have stamped their mark on the pub, it now appears to very welcoming with a friendly group of customers that made our party feel comfortable, the staff were equally welcoming and friendly and the selection and quality of the beer, which included an excellent pint of Martsons Pedigree was very pleasing. We visited the pub to watch a live England rugby match and there is a large projector screen and several large screen TV's, so despite the pub being very busy we could watch the game from anywhere in the pub. I must say we were very impressed by our visit and we are pleased to report that we have since re-visited several times and equally enjoyed each visit to The Observatory.
