David Ross left this review about The Whisky Cellar @ The Regent Hotel

This was formerly just "The Cellar Bar" and the change of name reflects a change in drinking priorities. As the new name suggests, it now specialises in whisky, with over 100 malts on offer. There is also an impressive range of high priced cocktails. On the beer front, there are three Loch Fyne Ales on hand pump, as well as Guinness. However, there is no draught lager at all and I had to settle for a bottle of Peroni, at a cost of £3.50. Overall, there has been an obvious, and successful, attempt to move up-market from its previous incarnation, with plusher décor, higher prices and a quiet and pleasant atmosphere, but it seems an odd business decision not to stock draught lager.

An undistinguished little bar located, as its name suggests, in a cellar below street level. This is a pity, as there would be interesting views of Oban Bay if it was at ground level. The bar is actually part of the adjacent Regent Hotel, although this is not apparent as it’s in a separate building. This is probably the cheapest pub in town and tends to be the haunt of locals rather than tourists. The ancient wooden door on the street level entrance looks as if it could be from an old castle, but the interior is disappointingly modern.

I found this pub by accident when looking for somewhere to have a drink after finding that the Oban Inn had closed. It's a bit hidden away, as the name suggests. Not up to the standard of the Oban Inn, but a pleasant place to have a drink and certainly one of the cheaper pubs in town.
