It looks pubby enough at first glance but inside tends more towards a restaurant, with the far end given over to a coffee machine and cake cabinet. Signs for gyoza and a shisha bar, allied with the apparent extraction of the staff, lead me to suspect an Eastern Mediterranean influence, which is not necessarily conducive to being a good pub. Just one handpump, serving an expensive if fair quality TT Landlord, with mainstream Eurofizz only on keg. The former car park through the arch now houses an outdoor area, a marquee, and some sort of function room but apart from that it has little to commend it. One for unfussy tourists.

It may well be an improvement on the Three Lions, but it's still not very good. Of the 3 handpumps only 2 were on and the selection was poor. It was pretty dark inside despite the refub and only 3 people in the pub. We decided to leave it and go across the road to the Walmgate Ale House.

Located down the ever popular fosssagte is the Watergate Inn (formerly the three lions). Since its refurbishment the Watergate has introduced more real ale is a slightly more upmarket environment but whether it like it or not this is still more of a local drinkers pub rather than a tourist place purely because of its location further down from the busier end.
there were three real ale on the bar with Moorehouse ruby witch, Leeds pale and Young's special all costing a slightly high £3.30 but all were in very nice condition and all were nice drinks.
This is perfectly good place to stop off for a drink and i would have been happy to stay longer, an improvement on the three lions.

During a recent Friday afternoon visit the friendly barmaid informed my group that the Watergate Inn had just changed its name from the Five Lions. The interior is long and thin with a bar that supports three hand pumps and a standard/premium draught range. There was some background music playing and I didn’t spot any televisions.

This is not a destination pub, but I would have no problem returning if passing.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Watergate Inn

Refurbished façade, with name changed from the Five Lions, but not sure what has been altered inside. The entrance to the elongated bar remains through the covered alleyway, and the seating area by the attractive bow window at the front is the best spot to sit. Some mid-brown wood panelling, but little else in the way of decor. Offers accommodation, discount parking and a waterside beer garden (not visited). Three real ales on handpump: Leeds Pale, Rooster's Yankee and Saltaire Blonde (£3.20).

I liked this traditional pub, with it's choice of three beers on handpump. The barmaid was welcoming and engaged with our stupidity and humour, whilst out on our Pubs Galore crawl splinter-group. The pub consisted of a tiled front room, with banquette seating around the window bay. The bar faces you as you enter from the side entrance, this room extended further to the right and had it's original timber wall panelling. Beers between us on our visit were Roosters Yankee and Saltaire Brewery Cascade, all were in top condition.

Old Boots left this review about The Five Lions

a long thin pub with a side entrance in an arched gateway, although it's unlikely to be a former coaching inn accommodation is available. Inside there's a nice panelled snug at the front with leather upholstered benches in the bay window. Over the fireplace is a darts board. The rest of the pub is fairly dreary with a small screen at one end and leather benches at round wooden tables down the side. The counter runs down one side and has two hand pumps spread along about it plus the inevitable range of national kegs. The only cask beer on sale was John Smiths cask in reasonable condition.

This is more of a locals pub, it says outside that it does accomodation.
There is only one real ale on in this pub which was John Smiths cask and this was a decent drink.
