Quite a bland modern styled interior. It's spoons you know what your getting.

I arrived here just before midday today to find this place quite busy, mainly with the extras from Last of the Summer Wine and Shameless.

It's a much smaller place than I expected and to be honest it's quite basic for a Spoons with a wooden floor and basic wooden furniture. Needless to say it's a shop conversion so the building has no redeeming features at all.

What really annoyed me was that on arrival there was just one member of staff serving despite the fact that it was busy. After a while a Zombie like female who looked like she had just been awoken from a deep sleep also appeared which improved things slightly.

I tried the Butcombe Old Vic Porter at £2.05 which turned out to be the cheapest pint of the day. It was in very good nick.

I wouldn't make an effort to return here, but it gets an extra point for the beer quality.

A very rough & ready Wetherspoons with an 'interesting' clientelle, not there best example by a long way. The beer choice was varied but all from the north and not really inspiring, though an extra mark for the quality.

Not one I would like to spend an evening in.

The original Angel pub that gave the area its name is now a Bank situated on the corner a few doors down. The name has however been retained / commemorated / stolen (delete as applicable) by Wetherspoons for this particularly dull and plastic example of their mission in life. It has all the good and bad trimmings that go with the ‘Spoons territory, a generally above average range of good quality guest ales at the usual discount prices, value for money food and spotless loos but on the downside it does attract its fair share of down and outs even in such a relatively affluent area as Islington. That said, I have never seen any trouble or had any problems in the 2 years I worked nearby and regularly used the place. As Wetherspoons go it is not the best or worst of its ilk but is reliable enough if you don’t want to seek out the several far superior pubs in the vicinity and is certainly adequate enough if you need to kill a short bit of time.

This isn't the best Spoons due to it's location and whilst I was there a strong smell of Skunk was wafting in from the people standing outside. Maybe not the pubs fault, but I'd rather drink elsewhere.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Angel (JD Wetherspoon)

Very ordinary Wetherspoons - cheap, but not very cheerful...
